Prestia is being paid $750k. Should the Tigers have paid two firsts for him?
I think a top 10 pick was what he was worth, which is what they paid.

Jilted Collingwood supporters now talking down Lever. :D

Will be a star defender and he's exactly what we need.
Never talked him down, just few of us wanted him - exceptional intercept defender but we're well stocked in that area. We need proper KPP's, not third talsl like Lever.

And why won't a very talented 195cm be able to play both roles. He's 21 and not yet fully physically developed.

The way footy is played with defensive zones there's no more valuable player than a 195cm tall who is an exceptional reader of the play and the best intercept marker in the league.

I see the pies fans point though. I doubt you'd want to pay the type of money (and picks) and try to turn him into your number 1 lock down defender which they need. It's a waste of Levers talent not to mention a risk. For us he's perfect, as we're developing the bigger and stronger Oscar McDonald into the anchor role, with pig and potentially Lever as the peel off players to intercept and give off to the rebounding Hunt

I'm more bemused by others pigeonholing him as a third tall.

One would think that a 195cm tall is far from the finished product and literally has years of improvement left in him.

When did Jeremy McGovern die?

Have to agree. This guy has plenty of development. And his foot skills are exactly what we need. He's brave and has leadership qualities to. Will be a huge get for whoever gets him.

You're saying it like it's a bad thing. 3rd tall/intercepte marking is the most important role in the backline. If you have an elite interceptor you only need an above average KPD that can carvan the oppositions best key forward.

For that reason McGoven and Lever for mine are the best/most important defenders in the AFL.

Did you not see me post the following in post #3611 above ?

It comes down to how badly we want him and to resist overpaying. When assessing trade value no point in comparing mid values with Third talls. Better to compare like for like.
The consensus seems to be our pick 10 and 27. The Crows will ask for more initially (and why not) and end up taking that.

Ease up on the leadership qualities...he lacks loyalty

We have intercept markers, Lever is a luxury not a necessity. The club should not pay pick 6 plus extras for a luxury. He won't push us up the ladder.
