Adelaide need midfielders.
Throw up Broomhead and Aish in a swap for Lever and maybe a late pick.
They are surplus midfielders in my view, especially as JDG and Maynard will now spend more time there.
They are both SA boys.

Could do worse.

Also could do lot Better

Broomhead and Aish have no value. We are better of keeping them and hoping they somehow realise some of the ability they've shown in patches.

If we were to deal it would be better if we could offload someone Reid or Scharenberg who would have more value Adelaide as an immediate replacement and likely be surplus to us if Lever comes in. I don't like it though because we are trading out guys at their lowest market value to bring in a guy at his highest market value and the output or effectiveness of our team won't change drastically.

Lever would be a great get. People might have forgotten the physics of age and size. He's 21. As has been said umpteen times on here. Which of the current crop of KPD started out as one-on-one defenders at that age?

He's being critiqued for being an intercept marker but the reality is as he grows he'll add close checking to his already impressive repertoire. I'd also add that being marked as a spare is not a stain on his abilities but rather a plus.

He's also a great character and former captain. Someone with brains in the backline won't hurt. See Nick Maxwell but with better skills.

The ones that immediately spring to mind are Andrews, Talia and Taylor.

He isn't being critiqued as an intercept defender. He's being critiqued on the basis that he has no exposed form as a KPD and whilst his physique stacks up as you correctly identified the difficulty will be in translating those natural intercept gifts into a more defensive role.

The two best are Rance and McGovern. Unfortunately he doesn't have anywhere near the pace of Rance nor the core strength of McGovern so in order to make it as a KPD he needs to be tight checking robbing him of much of his intercept brilliance, IMO.

I think we should take a lesson from the Crows who were more prepared to go with a debutant in a KPD post than Lever when Hartigan went out of the line up. They know where his value lies. It's also worth noting that Melbourne are unlikely to use him as a KPD as well.

Spot On. They have next to no value and better keeping them hoping that they come good next season

Think the answer from me is Lever looks likely to approach Rance like effectiveness when in his prime.
Considering Rance will go down as one of the all time greats I think that's being a bit optimistic. My view is that Lever's a smart footballer but lacks the athleticism to get anywhere Rance's level as a player. In the unlikely event either gets near that level my money would be on Balta fwiw who is actually pretty similar now to what Race was when he started. Obviously a lot has to go right in his development as a footballer but athletically he has the traits to be a brilliant 1v1 and rebounding defending.

David Noble footy manager at Brisbane saying they're looking for inside mids on trade radio. Levi Greenwood...

I would not be Against that. Could be Part of a Schache Trade;)

No to lever. I am sure he will be a very good player long term, but for what we have to give up in terms of trade and salary l don't see it. We already have Howe , shaz and Langdon doing the same type of role. And when occasionally he does plays on the main forwards he gets burnt badly. Rather go to the draft and get a kid who will grow into the position and will cost quarter of the price

On the Adelaide board they want pick 6 and Sidebottom

I think them refusing melbournes 1st and 2nd suggests they want huge overs for Lever.

I would stay well clear of these discussions. Currently Lever plays as a 3rd tall - not sure if that is the biggest priority for us.

Its all opinions. We rate players differently. I believe Lever will grow into a fantastic KPD, I would expect him to be AFL best level. I know you don't see that and hold a very high opinion of Shaz's upper level where I see him more likely to be more a foot soldier type.
There is no evidence that Lever will ever develop in to a top line key defender. He has been found wanting in the role this year when played there, and unlike Rance, who everyone seems to think he’ll become, he doesn’t have sufficient closing speed to allow his man space to maintin his intercept game playing as a key defender either. He is fools gold. Scharenberg on the other hand is growing rapidly in the same role Lever currently plays. That’s not opinion, the numbers fully support it.
As to the two 6's that's past history. Put Shaz on the market for a swap now and I think a pick in the 20's is likely best case senario. So in swap terms it would be pick 6 and say 25 as an approximation which is a good price.
Which is why it’s idiocy to be suggesting trading him now. His value is currently as low as it’s going to get unless he does his knee again (touch wood). Why on earth anyone would think it’s a good idea to trade a former pick 6 that the club has stuck by through injuries, who is just getting a good run at it and beginning to show why he was taken where he was in his draft year, for a guy who plays the same role he does to a slightly better standard is beyond me. Lever is literally a slightly taller version of Scharenberg, and you’re suggesting we give away Berg and pick 6 for him. It makes me want to vomit.

Some dude on twitter replying to Brett Anderson saying we've offered pick 6 and next year's first for Lever.... Madness if true.

That just be Stupid and do more Damage to Re-Build our Team then Fixing it

That's what you'd be betting on: 25 - 30 yo Lever.
