Any concern of the Crows outbidding us for Motlop? They will be desperate for a win this week.
They have a tighter celery cap than us. They refused to pay overs for Lever. Why would they do so for Motlop...unless it's to stuff us up or pacify their customers with a win.

(Note- I have allowed for the Brisbane compo pick pushing picks back)

Ah Chee - west coast - pick 49

Impey - hawks - 2018 2nd rounder or tim obrien

Aaron young - Gold Coast pick 38

Broadbent - Gold Coast - pick 25

Lobbe - ?? Who ever - ??

Go to draft with 25,30, 38 ,47,49

Or

If Carlton need picks to acquire Kennedy and smith as they only have pick 3 and 39 we trade 25 and 30 for 2018 2nd and 39 That would only work if gws wasn't interested in 2018 and 39 but liked 25 and 30.

Is it that good a draft you would go in with that many second + round picks to replace established depth players? Especially if Monfries, White and Krakouer at least have retired or been delisted.

I expect the list management team would be considering overall experience of the list. You don't want to create a reserves environment where the team is getting hammered.

Sounds like we've identified quite a few players we have interest in. Maybe some are obtainable through trading the likes of Impey, Young etc. O'Brien would be a good example.

Sounds like Motlop is far from a done deal. According to Cripps we haven't even met with him yet....
Yep sounded like he clearly hasn't met properly with us yet. We've possibly only tabled our offer so far. Far from certain as previously discussed. I'm still very nervous on the Motlop front. He's the one I want.

On face value Carlton would take that however the 2018 draft looks like a better so losing pick 19-25 next year may not be such a good idea.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick up Keegan Brooksby as a DFA.

No it's not that good a draft at all

But in that scenario we were losing lobbe young ah Chee and impey for those picks with our delistings/retirements. I would hold onto Toumpas and use the rookie list on some 19 yr olds like Wellings / sambono or tim Kelly and maybe Tyler keitel. Then adding those picks with rising form of guys like atley and drew and i like it

If we lose Impey it better be for a decent player. A late 2nd round in a year where the talent falls off the shelf in the teens does absolutely nothing for us. I'm firmly on the keep side of the argument.

The one Ive heard is
Motlop to PAFC
Stringer to Geelong
Trengove to Bulldogs
plus an assortment of draft picks flying around

The players I would want to replace him with in obrien and Fogarty will be gone by pick 22. Their may be a speedster left in one player whose name I forget (super quick guy name starts with a c?) he will possibly be around pick 29 but has a lot of issues not a better prospect than impey really.

Youve been listening to idiots

Two of those are free agents , and one is a tarnished contracted player a club wants out.
I guess its about where players want to play as much as anything.... but I'm no brainiac so I'll agree about the iq of my mates !

'Plus an assortment of draft picks' because we know the deal won't work.

It's still a very young/inexperienced profile. I think we will bring in a couple of players for balance.

Not discounting the Duryea rumour either.

Lol. Did you deliberately leave out the next line in an effort to support your argument??

There was a chance Lobbe could have joined the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2015.

"It was a last-minute opportunity that the Bulldogs put on the table, which was a pretty high first round pick and I think another pick at the time, which Port didn't see coming," Doughty said.

"I tried to get hold of Matthew, I think he was in Vietnam at the time, and I think we were about to fly over with the Bulldogs' recruiting manager (Simon Dalrymple) and CEO (David Stevenson) and coach (Luke Beveridge) to make the meeting happen, but it all fell through.

"The coach (Ken Hinkley) decided that he wanted to keep Matt, and that was the end of that trade option.
Firstly it's not an argument.
I remember reading it and just copied it to help the poster.;)
