Yep. And it wasn't that Cotchin couldn't play either. You could say both had underperformed in finals and both turned it around.
The club coach and players had a good look at themselves, kicked the right people out, got the right people in made some smart list decisions.

But in the case of Chris Scott, according to some people, it's because he can't coach.

He can coach. But is he good at preparing the team for finals?
Does he have a game plan that can hold up under extreme pressure?
Are we selecting a correctly balanced team for the larger grounds?
Has he been surrounding himself with the best possible people?
Fair questions for the results we are getting.
Maybe I'm melting, but I seriously hope the heads of our club, coach and players have a serious look at we are doing after this year.
While we're certainly not the worst we can't keep being uncompetitive in half the finals we're playing.

This I agree with, especially with the predicted population growth rates for Geelong, but it would have cost ALOT more.

It would have been genuinely ambitious. And we'd be definitely playing finals in it.

It would have taken a lot longer, meaning that we'd be playing a lot more home games at the MCG while it was being built. I wonder what the outcome of that would be?
The massive capacity was relying on a successful 2022 World Cup bid, which we now know was rigged.

Geez.......really looking forward to those extra 2000 seats :$

If we're lucky
More than 2000 extra seats. Ablett Terrace has a lower capacity than the old doug wage stand, and its replacement will be a carbon copy.

Fair questions. But as I said, for some people (not you, obviously) it's because he can't coach.

I would also add questions about the players. Are they mentally tough enough? Are they hungry enough for success? Do they have leaders that compare with our great side of the recent past (Ling, Chappy, SJ, Scarlo etc)?

Oh I'm not a big C.S fan. But you can't win a flag and keep making top 4 if you can't coach.
But yeah, Plenty of questions on the players. & maybe just not the usual scapegoats either.
Interesting to see what happens in the off season.

Even the most hardcore of one eyed fans I think would admit it's been just a slight case of over expenditure for a stadium that's used like 12 times a year.
Who cares, happily spend hundred's of millions to NOT build roads and spend $126m on a non-binding marriage plebiscite.
There's enough money to fund projects if they use it even just a little more efficiently.

Written and spoken by the Doc, and agreed with by me.

I think you'll find the stadium gets more use than that. Not to mention that the ground in an investment in the future of the Greater Geelong region as a whole, not just the football club.

8 Afl games, couple of 20/20 games and a couple of soccer games.
The VFL games, GFL finals and interleague games could of been accommodated before the rebuild.
The club needs to play 11 games there or at the very least ask.

sure you can

have a big home ground advantage, keep playing older players and topping up so there is no drop off and beat the weaker sides away from home, an even competition also helps

its like the Global Financial Crisis, just keep printing more money (selling the future)

the 2 franchise clubs have diluted the talent so its harder for teams to catch up on quality

I am really interested in your anecdotal comparison of how the GFC/Monetary Policy is like the Geelong Football Clubs recruiting strategy...

Could you please elaborate on this? I would love to hear your thoughts.

I note that the GFC was not really about printing extra banknotes, but rather about subprime lending comprising of compiled mortgages that were rated as AAA, but were really far riskier. I would like to see how this matches the GFC recruiting plan to remain competitive.

Ok so how bout we just go back to standing on gravel covered mounds in the outer ay? You could fit more people in that way.

Yep, I was at K'Park when they had over 42,000 in the ground against Collinwood.
A great atmosphere, but I could see very little being built so low to the ground in the standing area.

200 million dollars for a couple of extra thousand seats.......sounds like a solid investment to me :$
I did notice the new Past Players bar was pretty schmick.........as long as they've got somewhere private and state of the art to get on the piss. Got to be the most expensive Man Cave on the planet

And the clubs got the cheek to jack up ticket prices by an average of 80% for most home games

Yeah.......you're confusing State spending with Federal spending :$

Who cares? Either of them can provide funds for public projects last I’m aware.
Spare me the :$ it’s uneccesary.

I ain't a fan of the prices at KP.
Funnily enough the Social club seems alright though. But I dunno.

I've just gone Gold on my second AFL Membership this year. Took me 10 years to get there, first one only took me 8, so I won't be relaxing those anytime soon because of the Priority 1 option on Grand Final tix

I've also got 2 GA H&A Geelong Memberships. I'm thinking of upgrading......any recommendations?
