Agree - I think if it has any merit to it then it's probably just a trade that has us receiving both Matera / Wilson - so that's 3 clubs there.

Usually I'm the first to bash rubbish like this but I thought it would be something interesting to post because despite how much of a drone Nixon is he's been right about everything that's happened this trade period so far.

I'm surprisingly ok with the season being over. We were embarrassing for the last month. Pre season couldn't come soon enough. My interest in AFL in general in 2017 was at an all time low.

2016 for me was when my interest plummeted. A wasted year that stalled our rebuild. 2017 has been one of the most enjoyable years watching us play if I'm being honest. I liked being refreshed from watching new personal playing and going in with no expectations every week but actually seeing improvement whether we won or lost.

2016 and 2017 have been boring years for me. Not so much us being shit, because as painful as it is, watching the kids grow is fun. More so AFL seems to be getting more boring and the umpires are just ruining the game with stupidity. I use to watch basically every game, every week with excitement. When Hawthorn, Sydney and Freo were top 4, the quality was high. WB and Richmond just won flags and they're both average teams, showing that the competition maybe more even, but that's because the quality teams dropped off, so has the quality of footy. MRP, kids getting more soft, players no allowed to be themselves in the media, it's just not what it use to be. I have an MCC membership, it ain't cheap, I only used it once for the whole year.

Hahaha! Soz! I unfortunately missed both MCG games, had to do some research for some personal things hours before the Melbourne game (watched it live on tv just in time) and Richmond game was my anniversary, big deal to the mrs. Went to the North game, watched the McGregor fight instead of going to the Essendon game.

Anzac game is literally another game, massively overrated, literally 0% in going.

I'd say we're passionate supporters who still watch basically every game, we're just not overly satisfied with how the game is being played.

Efficiency isnt the only thing that matters. Aesthetics matter too.

Michael Bevan single handedly worked out a superior tactic for 50 over cricket that made us almost unbeatable. But in the process he made the format unwatchable and boring to the point where it isn't likely to survive this decade.

That is what Ross Lyon tried to do in AFL and that's why they changed the rules to ensure he wasn't successful. Now he's out of ideas.

Couldn't be further from the truth. If ladder position was all I cared about, why would I support Freo for 23 years?

The way I see it, Ross had a game plan that he worked on with Roos at Sydney, perfected at the Saints and then brought it to Freo to take it one step further. It peaked in our prelim vs Sydney in 2013. It was tweaked in 2015 (if that first half was unwatchable to you, you should try another sport).

Then, we lost key talent, had key injuries and have been stocking up on talent in the sub-25 yr old range for another crack in the next 2-3 years. I'm more than ok with this. I think we have a great list that is only getting better and should hit their peaks all roughly the same time.

We have HB and Ape etc coming off injuries which are like free players, we have pick 5 and likely Wilson and Matera to add to our bckline and forward line. We have Darcy and we have Fyfe coming back to his best (he'll eat Dusty for dinner). We also swapped Mayne for our reigning Doig medallist.

Why would I be baying for blood with that to look forward to?

I'm a member but what does that have to do with the comments made in this thread? I joke about Hogan to try and be counter productive to all the nonsense that has been posted about him. I also think we don't need him which is why I like to throw in my 2 cents on him every chance I get.

I said 2016 was a waste of time from a rebuilding perspective - never mentioned Ross or his gameplan, in fact I like to think I'm in the RTB corner when it comes to all debates surrounding him.

Yes rebuild. I know where we're at which is why I also mentioned that this year has been one of my personal favourites to experience as a supporter.
