has knightmare confirmed yet that collingwood has drafted the best selection of players in the history of mankind?
he's sulky they didn't get balta

Nah, I think Balta is not necessarily a consumate defender like Rance.

I would not pidgeon role Balta for a while if ever.

I would play him in a ruck hybrid role, maybe at FF or even wing, just do not restrict him, see how he goes.

Do not want us to upset our backline necessarily either at the moment.

Starts in the 2's and see what happens but Miller could do anything to and CCJ looks to have a few string so anything could happen.

Biggest at risk would be Hampson and then possibly later Griffiths with CCJ, Miller and Balta although Griffiths flexibility can complement CCJ as well as Balta and or Miller like our small forward inclusions helped each other\

We may not need another ruck type for another 6 years!!!
Will be interesting which group the coaches put Balta into. Either way would not expect him to get a game next season as he will be given time to develop in the VFL.

With five new faces and rookies still to come, here’s how I think we might line up in 2018:

BEST 22:

B: Grimes Astbury Vlastuin
HB: Houli Rance BEllis
C: Lambert Cotchin CEllis
HF: Edwards Caddy Rioli
F: Bolton Riewoldt Townsend
R: Nankervis Martin Prestia
IC: Grigg, Graham, Conca, Higgins

VFL:

B: Garthwaite Broad Short
HB: Markov Balta McIntosh
C: Menadue Miles Naish
HF: Castagna Griffiths Butler
F: Miller Moore Stengle
R: Hampson Drummond Lloyd
IC: Chol, Soldo, Coleman-Jones, Rookies

Broad, Castagna, Butler and McIntosh are the casualties that I think will get passed by C Ellis, Conca, Higgins and Bolton. Man, how’s that for depth?

Depending on our opposition and how Nank is holding up is expect us to rotate our tall stocks and bring in Hampson, Griff and Moore when needed. Balta could be the surprise here given he’s already at 195cm/92kgs and then throw in a solid preseason.

The big mover of the year will be Drummond cementing himself as an in and out midfielder once he finally gets a decent crack at it without injury.

By end of the year I think we’ll throw Butler up as trade bait given our surplus stocks. Rioli, Bolton and Higgins have more upside. And Castagna if he can work on his skills has more versatility. Hampson will retire and Chol moved on. The rest? Well, it’s guess work from here. Can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store.

Seeing Naish in a tigers line up is good for the soul

I think Higgins will probably play at some point next season, at least a few games, and Miller, Balta and even CCJ could easily get a game or 2 or even more if they progress and/or possibly injuries(hope not).

If anything given we where premiers last year and possibly thereabouts in 2018 great incentive for the likes of a more physically developed Miller and Balta to knuckle down, progress but not over do it and see if they can improve the senior team with what they can bring to the team possibly in terms of output and structure to benefit the teams competitiveness.

RFC can definitely improve its mobility, marking and system so guys like Miller and Balta have a blank canvas to showcase their talent, smarts and application!!

So does anyone know how many Rookie selections we have/or will use?
1 Rookie spot
3 Cat B spots
We were rumoured to be interested in an Irish Cat B player plus also can get Derek Smith Jnr as a CatB rookie is there is not a bid on him in the Rookie draft.

A guy like Balta, and or Miller could be stuck at FF, with leading pace creating match up headaches and different looks, helps/complements JR a bit further up the ground or to the side, they can rotate in the ruck, give Dusty forward relief to and even add to marking link play on a wing to make RFC a more robust all round formidable unit!

I would imagine a few trials and simulations would be investigated in the pre-season and beyond with these two in particular and how they can complement the teams structure and overall teamwork productivity.

Could put Dusty resting forward pocket, one of Balta or Miller FF and JR at half forward or the other pocket with our small forwards running rampant could be a match up fluid nightmare particularly when rotating through the ruck and others like Dusty/Lambert and possibly a Higgins also rotating through the midfield!!

Theoretically could play Balta and Miller rotating between FF, wing, ruck and bench in same side with a Nankervis or a Griffiths or a CCJ when he gets body ready not to mention a Balta and/or Miller possibly helping down back if re-inforcements needed. It would help JR with his longevity to as other bodies helping him out in the strength contesting areas.

Just having the look at the vision, Miller arguably could be your more FF type rotating in the ruck while Balta maybe start on a wing doing a Nick Reiwoldt/Richo role and rotating into ruck/FF and down back when suits

You mean the bloke who played 100 odd games and has been involved in under age coaching , development and scouting for 40 years?
He’d know **** all.
Yes, he's never seen an ordinary footballer in his life. From a coverage perspective he add nothing.

We should take LOLNORF'S place in the AFL with that VFL side .

He will offer areas where they have shortcomings, but to be fair though nobody is going to say “this kid is no good”. Only a **** sucker would say that .

This guy doesn't rate drafting rucks early giving CCJ a low value.

17. RICHMOND: JACK HIGGINS, forward, Oakleigh Chargers
Another beauty. Higgins is a smart footballer and you can never, ever have too many of those.
Value: A+ Team fit: C

20. RICHMOND: CALLUM COLEMAN-JONES, ruck, Sturt

Because the Tigers’ ruck stocks are very thin, it was wise to opt for the low downside, low upside pick of Coleman-Jones. If they drafted Sam Hayes and Nankervis went down it would be a nightmare as Hayes is nowhere near ready for the big stage.
Value: C Team fit: A

25. RICHMOND: NOAH BALTA, swingman, Calder Cannons

I love this pick. He doesn’t have any game sense, but pair him with Alex Rance and he will learn. You can’t teach athleticism.
Value: B Team fit: A

Reckon he may play. Broad is suspended for the first 3 games.
