I see 5aark's ratings took a sizeable dip in the drive-time slot in the latest survey. I wonder if the stations get an hour-by-hour breakdown, or if Dumb & Dumber and Kornes have to argue it out between themselves over which show is responsible for the dip :p
Nope, some old fella comes around with a book and a pen and asks you to fill it in for a month with zero incentive. I did it a couple of years ago.
Only over 65’s would bother most of the time as they also call at the house during work hours.
The lag in the info makes it almost worthless.

Reading the last few pages of this thread, it's been a revelation to me to discover that Keith Martyn and Dr Turf are still around.

Why would you think Dr Turf isn't around? He is only in his late 50's. He always looked about 20 years older than he was. Smart bloke. Used to write comedy scripts for Vizard and the D generation guys. He is in their age bracket.

I get your point, but however they concoct the ratings it's not worthless to the industry execs - they live and die by it.

Of course, but it also explains the absolute tripe we get.

I think the best way for me to respond to your first sentence is to refer you to your third sentence.

I actually like Blighty, find him a fascinating character. Come at me.
Blighty is a great story teller. He has so many of what happened around him when he was playing and then as a coach.

That's why he will probably succeed on radio as its a more interment medium than TV. The question is how far off the reservation he will go and how repetitive he becomes whether he will be a ratings hit or miss. Talking Footy - 1 hour a week - was a great vehicle for his deeper analysis of the game compared to the other tripe coming out in the media at the time.

That doesn't answer anything. Did you think he was dead? Or did you think he no longer worked in the media because he was old, and older than you thought?

That schtick of his where he talks in dazzled amazement at the acts of skill he’s watching unfold, like a 10 year old boy watching football for the first time, is like fingernails down a blackboard to me.

goodness me
"Led by a rejuvenated Jake Stringer, Essendon will challenge for a place in the Grand Final. But at the other end of the scale, Port Adelaide will struggle to reach September."

"But at Port, Jack Watts and Steven Motlop will again struggle to find their rhythm as the club’s high-risk, high-reward recruits fail to gel as quickly as Ken Hinkley might have liked."
Port has been proving idiots wrong for well over a century, and this will be just another example.

Yep. Opinions. Like lower intestines. Everyone has one. Mostly full of crap.

Haha, I’m an old fella myself.

This is even better:

If by 'cheaply' they mean 'traded out of the 2017 Draft to have a diceroll at getting Marshall (#16) and SPP (#18) with 1st rounders in the 2016 Draft', yeah, we got him 'cheaply'.

To then compare him, an explosive man-child long-likened to Dustin Martin, to some random taken in the third round, is the icing on a very derpy cake.

When Blight was coaching the Cows i was convinced by one of my mates to go and watch a trial game at Richmond Oval. The telephones in the box weren't working and Blight decided to sit directly behind me with his assistant coaches. I reckon I learnt more about footy in that 2 hours than I knew before. It was really interesting what he thought was shit and he wasn't holding back about what he thought.

I will always love him for losing the first ever showdown.
That Adelaide supporter who is featured in the video saying "the Crows will do them,.....very easily today" at 1.03 is probably still trying to dig a hole.

I loved some of the names mentioned in this youtube

Wilson showing what great things were to come

but I wish Hueskes could have stayed on the straight and narrow. He could have been anything if he focused.

Shane Bruer. Speaking of cameos

watching him ping them from 50 plus was super impressive. I have never understood why our midfield doesn't have a ping more often from this position.

Mind you SPP has brought this part of the game back into vogue.
