Your completely fine with the Muslims treating their women second class abusing them through control and forcing them to be shameful of their bodies by covering them up, you say you have no right to interfere.

Yet the left are happy to go around telling everyone else in the country that their actions are someway evil and wrong. Everything is bigoted, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist. Telling everyone how to think speak act and interfere with violence if they express freedom of speech. Yet when Muslim women are oppressed in such ways, you want to sit back and not get involved calling it freedom of choice.

Talk about the hypocrisy of the left at its best.

Because banning religious wear is just the different side of the same coin.

I have acknowledged the sensitivity.
But I would like to see feminists and those who support womens' rights come out and at the very least raise the issue. An adult women's decision to wear a head covering is one thing - a child's is another. We are a secular culture and children should have the right to determine their own beliefs.

I am certainly not advocating legal censure of any sort only that our leaders have the maturity to discuss the matter in the way we have over the last 3-4 posts.

Feminist's do raise the issue. They rarely identify islam in particular because institutionalised religion as whole treats women like shit.

And what is the problem with parents allowing their daughters to wear head scarves? Other parents send their kids to church, send them to catholic church, make them go to confession and all that.

If you want to enforce atheism, it won't work. If you want to legislate against one religion, you know what that leads to.

In my experience women are uncomfortable talking about this at all. Like so many other things - people are afraid of having the wrong opinion.

You really have a problem with nuance, don't you?

It isn't hypocrisy to be opposed to bigotry within Islam and also opposed to bigotry against Muslims. These aren't mutually exclusive positions to take. The idea that bigotry against Muslims is the solution to bigotry within Islam is incredibly misguided.

Islam is not some monolithic structure. There are elements within the religion that are totally repressive and sexist. There are also liberal elements too. Just like basically every religion in the world. I don't judge all Christians by the actions and beliefs of the Westboro Baptist Church. You seem to like to tar with a very thick brush, though. As soon as someone says "wait, maybe this situation isn't quite so black and white" you shout out "hypocrisy!".
