Many many people HATE selwood for that ducking. And McLean is not Selwood. And whilst Selwood helped pioneer the technique, Mclean has taken it to another level.

Wood could be there as a big body until Red returns from the jailhouse.

We need someone to crash packs and lock the ball back in - we did that pretty well yesterday — big improvement. Once Red is back Wood goes back.

Boyd can take a good grab - under 18 he was a lead and one grab superstar. But in AFL you are bumped the whole way on the lead and have very big boys crashing in. He has weight but needs strength and will be a KPF Star and second Ruck. Schache is the up the flanks marker we need. The best forward line is probably Adelaide (hate them but have to admit this) they have Jenkins as the big forward/ second Ruck (like Boyd but a bigger tank / like shack but bigger body), Tex is a traditional CHF good contented market - straightens side and brings presence (like Red but more mobile). Lunch is the running link man ( Closest potentially to Schache but quicker) and then a leaping McGovern and star in Eddy bets. They may use Fogerty and Harry Dear also as tall forwards also. Very tall but much more mobile. GWS is also big but closer in fit - Paton: Boyd, Cameron: Red, Lobb: Schache, Himmelberg:??

We could go;

Dickson -Boyd -Schache
Dunkley/Jong - Red -Picken. Issue may be the speed to lock the ball in.

We can throw thing around or we go more traditional

Crozier Trengrove Wood
Biggs Adams Naughton (early call up with Morris out or we protect him and go for Cordy).

JJ on the Wing. Really like Young but he is more a CHB than a lock down.

Unpopular Opinion time!

The problem with guys such as Dunkley, Honeychurch, Wallis and to a lesser extent Clay Smith is that they tease you as forwards. Sometimes they might kick 2 - 3 goals and it gives you hope but for the next 2-3 games they might not kick a goal. And the problem is that none of them (except for maybe Wallis which Is debatable) are IMO in the top 6 inside mids at the club (I have Bont, Macrae, Libba, Dahl, McLean and someone like Jong as the top 6) so really all of those guys are going to spend a very large chunk of game time up forward.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of picking too many of these types and would prefer playing specialist goal kickers in those roles (Dickson, Picken, Redpath, Dale) all of whom find the goal on a more regular basis.

Also get wood out of the forward line. Murphy, Boyd gone and JJ spending more time up the ground, I don’t like Wood forward.

I certainly agree that the non member admission cost was way to high however this was the very first JLT game with both teams presenting with strong line ups .
Be interesting to see what the Moe crowd size is like .

During the TV coverage of the game in Moe they said the crowd was 2700

He didn't really even necessarily promote Jong as such.
I read it as "someone like Jong",as our 6th best midfielder,not really something to get so carried away about.
6th best mid isn't exactly high praise.

Let’s not use Jong because I can’t stand the bloke as a footballer and it p!sses everyone else off

I just can’t understand why some blokes who have done more than others constantly get bagged for their deficiencies and that’s why they shouldn’t play but others(not only he who should not be named) don’t that clearly aren’t up to it and have as many and even more deficiencies

Without Clay we probably don’t win the flag in 2016 but every tribe he is struggling he is out the back door faster than Light speed.

I wish he'd stop the milking too. But I would amend your statement to be "He will never get the respect for his ability until he stops RECEIVING head high free kicks."

He should never ever be paid head high free kicks given how blatantly he plays for them. And he doesn't need to be paid them. We saw a great example in the game yesterday - he played for the free, wasn't awarded it and just kept on going, firing off a brilliant handpass releasing a player in the forward line. That was the template going forward. He's ready. The umpires should just put away their whistles and let it happen.

Anyway,I don't mind trying Wood forward,we have an excessive amount of backs so it's good coaching throwing someone up there. I would have gone Adams but I'm not angry and back the Wood move,some obviously think Cordy.
I loved McLeans game like others have said and I think Dale is progressing nicely.
