Just witnessed the best game of GV standard I have seen in recent years. Ky hosted Wangaratta and it was like Ky playing against another Ky team. The constant pressure on the ball carrier was immense and at half time a few of the Ky lads said they haven’t played against such sure ball handlers. There were some freakish goals like Liam Barrett’s effortvto keep the ball inside the boundary line from outside 50 then pick it up and barrel it through on his left with a massive toro. Sam Sheldon said his opponent was the best player to be able to pick up the ball from a half volley and turn and spin he had played against, and the kid was only 16! He said he should be drafted NOW! Wang start next week and their coach said they had 4 players missing from their best team. Ky has at least half a dozen missing. Wangaratta’s 2 big forwards were the difference in the end and they won by 31 points. To the so called experts in the Shepp News who have picked Ky to finish 5th “Tell him he’s dreamin’”.

Echuca went down to Northcote Park by a couple of goals. The game was not a great spectacle with plenty of contested footy due to the hard press of Northcote. The Murray Bombers copped a few injuries with the most significant being what could be a serious knee injury to Roury Kirkby in the first couple of minutes. The biggest highlight of the day was No. 27 from Northcote Park giving his coach a spray and a "Dusty" don't argue after the game!

I am pretty sure a team that has been undefeated for two seasons know they are considered “the top dog” so they need to be prepared for every team gunning at them to knock them off their mantle. But how big of an opinion do you perceive they have of themselves by your query?

Fair question. But north Heidelberg not a bad unit with the Harvey boys among others and should go well in a pretty fair comp.

Bigger question for me is how bad are United? Given the cats flogged them last week

That rings true 3rd man. Cade Mueller was deep in the forward line with Pell and Bell. However older brother Kyle pulled up sore from the previous week so didn’t play.
I did sound a bit excited last night after witnessing such a great game washed down with amber fluid. Then later in the evening very much had the wobbly Bootz on when replying to Roota! A was a bit tired and emotional at midnight!

Very high standard game, the ball certainly was pinging around, wang just had to much class up forward in the end, the 2 key forwards plus Number 16 had to much for the ky backs.

Echuca have signed Marty Hore. Marty was heavily courted by Melbourne in the lead up to the 2015 AFL Draft. He won the B&F at Collingwood VFL last year and I feel still has a chance to be picked up. Magnificent user of the ball. May not play many if any but a great pick up.
