Total scores per game;

2018* - 21.4
2017 - 25.9
2016 - 23.8
2015 - 22.3
2014 - 19.1

* This year thus far, without our greatest ever CHF. Whose output we haven't replaced.

Yep, we've taken a step back.

If we,

1) Improve our overall disposal & ball retention (worst I've seen from us), particularly our field kicking into F50, we should be adding 2-3 scores per game.

&

2) Improve our scoring conversion to at least 50% (currently 40%), we're scoring 84-90 pts per game which keeps us competitive (ave score against us this year is 91).

Now, there is obviously more to it than a snap of the fingers with this, but it's small but essential focuses, that puts us back 'on track' to where we should be as a team in it's overall development/progression IMO.

Just saying a bloke called Baldock went alright at CHF

Richardson has a solid background in coaching

Richardson became a coach and was put in charge of his original club, East Burwood, in the Eastern Football League. He coached the seniors to premierships in 1999 and 2000.[3][4] He was the senior coach of VFL club Coburg for the next two years and in 2003 joined the Western Bulldogs as an assistant coach. After three seasons at the Bulldogs, Richardson was appointed to Mick Malthouse's coaching staff at Collingwood and given the role of development manager. From 2008 to 2010 he was an assistant coach with Essendon. He joined the Carlton Football Club as an assistant in 2011 but was released at the end of the 2012 season because of the departure of senior coach Brett Ratten who was replaced by Mick Malthouse. He then joined the Port Adelaide Football Club as a senior assistant and director of coaching for the 2013 season. On 4 May 2013, Richardson coached his first official AFL game in place of senior coach Ken Hinkley, who was unavailable due to a virus. Port Adelaide lost that game to North Melbourne.[5] Richardson was appointed to the vacant St Kilda coaching position on 14 November 2013,[6] despite criticism by Port Adelaide over the late timing of the decision, being made only one week before the national draft.[7]

so he should have a few clues , I feel if the team can produce some effort over the season he will be safe - if not they will be calling for his head
Should have but the question may be how come so many clubs and no longer than 3 years.
Is his defeciencies found out and moved on ?

Mr Finnis' PR blurb was just designed to break the silence from the club in the light of poor performances to keep supporters and the media happy to some extent- but we have been, and still are badly under-achieving; the coaching panel haven't got a clue, and that's reflected in the how the team is playing.

i think his statement is strong and good. it puts richo publicly on notice. he's basically publicly admitted to him under performing. he's thrown his support around him which is exactly what he should be doing.

lets see how that public statement changes over the course of the year.

what is interesting is the comments from Finnis today about the financial performance.

The club will support Richo until they can no longer support Richo

Same at every club

i'm paraphrasing but he said the poor performance has impacted the membership and attendance numbers but he does not think that will affect the overall financial performance given the improved stadium deal
If we sell less memberships and attendance numbers are down, how can it not hurt our financial position

our membership numbers are up on last year but i think he's saying we arent going to hit what we aimed for. sounds like we just won't make as much money as we hoped but we will still make money

Interesting comment from Matt.

I was thinking about this subject(along with several others) walking away from the ground last Sat night.

At the pre game function, a question was asked to Matt re the new stadium deal and the likehood of good income flowing from it.

Matt replied saying that if we get similar attendances this season to last season......we could generate up to $2 Mill extra revenue.

The potential problem here is that we may possibly be pushing you know what up the hill to get similar total season attendance for home games.

Not impossible by any stretch......but we had some great crowds last year for home games.

Our average home crowd last season was a tad over 31K.

So far this year.....the average for the 3 home games is 19,300.

Given that they were all against interstate clubs, you'd assume that a good part of the crowd may have been St.Kilda members.........so not that much was received at the gate.

A glance just now at the fixture(and previously not having a clue who we are playing and where beyond the next few rounds) shows we may be a show of getting near that average.

We do play some big clubs among our remaining home games which are:

MELB
COLL
SYD
CARL
RICH
DOGS
HAWKS
ROOS

Excepting Sydney....there all Melb clubs which is a great sign.

The beauty of playing the bigger Melb clubs is that you'd assume with the bigger clubs, most of opposition fans will be paying at the gate(ala the Carlton game Queens Birthday 2016)

I tried listening to his press conference from earlier today just then, I got through 2 minutes. It's just monotonous, cliche riddled stuff. So uninspiring.

I know how you come across to the media doesn't mean anything about coaching performance - but if he addressed players the same way - there's no way any message would get through.

A lot of piffling poppycock posted in the last three pages.

Club in Finnis has backed the coach and actually dismissed the 'noise' .

So enough of the extrapolated supposition from the minutiae of snippets of what may or may not be information.

Silly theories says more about the poster than actual fact.

How you talk externally and how you talk internally are two very different things. Can guarantee he doesn't speak like that to the players.

Did Richo also cause 9/11. Can you jump on anymore negative stuff and blow it out of proportion.

Ross Lyon sounds exciting.

What are your thoughts on the unsubstantiated internal shenanigans currently being esposoused by the suppositories of wisdom regarding the synergistic incongruent relationship between the CEO and Coach, and should we be concerned?

If you take everyone on face value as to what they say in the media you must be a trusting individual. How many CEO's and Presidents have come out and backed a coach early in the season only for them to be moved on at a later time.

How about offering something to the forum rather than continually castigating the other posters.

I believe the exchanges to be trifling and facile, built on extraneous and assanine DKE, predominately cognative bias of an illusory superiority.

But mainly piffling poppycock

None of us know what is happening inside the club but we can all see the results. As much as I hate watching the outcome at the end of round 16 last year we were flying.

What changed? I have no idea, but most problems can be fixed with honesty, intelligence and patience. Unless Richo has totally lost the playing group and/or the board he should stay.
