When our club spins the hamstring issues most of us called them out on it.

KT and Gil proclaim a sell out and a crowd of 10,000 people at the venue the average Tealster nods their head in agreement and proclaims the game a rousing success.

Despite two thirds of the seats empty and an official venue map showing the maximum capacity if all the hospitality areas being just over 500 people.

Who is the Tom Cruise equivalent in Portology?

Gil McLachlan noted...
"People are critical but we're playing in Shanghai with 10,500 people ... this was a paddock 18 months ago.

So why the hell are you playing at a paddock?

It's all spin and bullshit. Remember those pics of Kock at the shiny new stadium?

Truth is a half empty paddock

I have no doubt the Vic government wants a Vic club in Shanghai next year, which is why Eddie was so bullish on it on The Footy Show this week.

Won’t be Collingwood obviously or any club with enough self respect to not sell a home game.

How about we offer to buy a home game off North or GC, then Port can have a home game against Collingwood up there. Win Win.

It won’t be Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, Geelong or Carlton. None of those sides ever plays in Tasmania, Cairns, Hobart, the NT or any developing or fringe market - Geelong basically never hosts any of them at Kardinia either.

Eddie is always bullish when someone else has to do the work.

If a vic club plays they won’t have to sell a game.

Port will ‘buy’ a replacement home game from a small club like suns and then move one of their home games to Shanghai and then play the vic team as an away team (i.e. port will still have their 11 home games, son will the vic team, but the Suns will have 10, with an additional ‘home’ game at AO)

I still can't believe that clubs and the AFL allow this mockery of ' home game ' control to Port

If Port and the AFL think this is a winner then it's up to Port to compensate the SMA and walk away from 1 game at AO.

The AFL would rather pay St Kilda $1m rather than the SMA??

The overseas game concept is just silly. I was living in the UK in when we used to have matches over there. I went to The Oval to watch the Crows and the Eagles. The crowd was decent, but it was 99+ % expat Aussies desperate to see some footy. The handful of Poms who were there were with mates and had come for a beer and a laugh.

If they really want to diversify the game, there's a far cheaper and more effective way. I live in a part of Melbourne that is demographically very Chinese. There is virtually no penetration into this market at the playing level, and not a lot more at the supporting level. Massive numbers in basketball and soccer though.

If footy is serious about gaining a foothold in China, this is their entry point. A few Chinese footy academies in the big cities of Australia. Develop the AFL playing pool beyond Lin Jong, and then it becomes interesting.

In soccer terms, neither Port or Gold Coast are Juventus or Liverpool. They are Crystal Palace or Empoli. What has more impact on the uptake of soccer in Australia - the success of Craig Johnston, Tony Dorigo, Harry Kewell or Tim Cahill in overseas leagues, or tours by the likes of Leicester and West Ham? What has had impact on the success of basketball - Ben Simmons, Patty Mills and the like.

Develop the game in the ethnic groups who have not traditionally taken up footy, and you've then got a foothold to possibly penetrating new foreign markets.

750k a year player kicks 6 goals from 9 games.
It’s the oppositions fault for putting their best defenders on him. Why can’t they be fair and put their 3rd or 4th best defenders on him?

Meanwhile 550k a year hack Jenkins has kicked nearly 3 times as many goals for 200k less and also rucks.

Port pays him $125k for each goal he has kicked so far.

Kane on Dixon only kicking 6 goals for the year: "People forget that he gets the best defender every week"
A few weeks ago I heard either Kern or Kane, (maybe we should just call them Krane), say that Dixon would be a first pick player in any team in the comp.
I’d argue that even if he was he’d be dropped by now.

Look, this is a good point, but you aren't factoring in the finger pointing that Dixon provides

This just goes to show how precariously placed this venture is. If Port had to give up a home game from the start it probably wouldn’t have happened, if they had to give up a home game in future the Port faithful would be up in arms and suddenly it’d be the worst idea in the world.
I give this 2-3 more years at best.

Port supporters are just so obsessed with creating History
I was appalled to read over there that they were the "first true NT team "
How dare it be taken away from them
Inspiration to the Indigenous people
All the Crows have is Betts
As a Crows supporter and Territorian that's just offensive

So has anyone figured out why Port Power played NTUA at Gold Coast's home game?

My brain hurts with this cluster truck of spin. Honestly good on them for having a crack but the spin relies on morons believing everything. We’re not living in the 1950’s anymore.
The truth is so so obvious.
We can handle the truth.
