I’ve heard everything now...
Caro statting that Port have an unfair advantage in Shanghai as it is our home ground and that if we make the eight it will be on tha back of that unfair advantage
meanwhile failing to mention Richmond’s unfair advantage of playing how many games at the MCG this year?
I didn’t realise we were the only team to ever buy a home game either.
Gee commentators are dumb and biased at times.

Talk about laughable. So she is suggesting that we would have lost that game if it was played at Metricon? Certainly, as you point out, Richmond get a huge leg-up with their multiple games at the MCG, although I think they'd struggle to beat West Coast at the MCG on form.

The investigation into the Easton Wood incident has come out as most expected. Apparently cows officials hands are tied as the person who tapped Easton Wood on the bum is not a member. Or at least that's what they say. Very doubtful if they even investigated it much. They may have called the holder of that seat over the phone but he would have just said it was lent to someone and they left it at that.

And yet, if it were the other way around they would have been like ****ing csi.

Yep, unfair advantage.

You know.

If you forget about the 25,000 kms of extra travel over the minor rounds. 5 less home games. 12 less games at the Grand Final arena.

But yeah, we have the unfair advantage.

Gee commentators are dumb and biased at times.

Field dimensions emulate Metricon's, Port's flight trip is way greater than going to Gold Coast, the number of Suns' supporters at the game is similar. I think she is complaining that NTUA is played before the game...

Sigh, yes you do, otherwise you could assault drunken people, or coward punch at will or a particularly brave (or stupid) person could never be assaulted.
Also there was an element of fear in this particular event as seen in the reaction of the player.
Assault can be as minor as snatching a ticket from a ticket inspector.

If you don’t believe me try doing what the Crows fan did to a copper or judge, see what happens.
For minor physical contact that isn't of a sexual nature and isn't intended to cause injury, if you don't have an element of fear, it's not going anywhere.

And yet, if it were the other way around they would have been like ******* csi.

If it were the other way around they would have plastered a clear image of the person all over the media, and released his name publicly, not to mention probably stalked him till he spoke with them for an “interview”(under duress).

Like I said in another post a couple weeks ago, if they want to identify you, at least have a clear image of you, they can. The CCTV at the oval is that good, there’s nowhere to hide(except the toilets and they see you walking in and out), especially the stands/seats/hill they are ALLunder complete CCTV coverage.

There’s a whole room of people watching the cameras on match days. They all missed it did they? How convenient, just as convenient that a clear image of the persons face hasn’t been released publicly.

Most people don’t realise just how up against it Port a really are.

The big advantage of playing at your home ground in a national competition is not having to travel. Adelaide to Shanghai is around 7,500 kms.

Another advantage is being in familiar surrounds and being able to keep to a routine. We have played 2 games in Shanghai and it is not just in another Australian city but in a foreign country with a very different culture to Australia.

Then there is the home crowd. Playing in front of 5K Ports supporters in Shanghai can not match playing in front of 45K Ports Supporters at Adelaide Oval.

Epic fail Caro

Most people don’t realise just how up against it Port a really are.
We realise it alright, it's just that too few of us see it for what it is, a de facto admission that we worry them.
A challenge to their perceived superiority just by existing. Even their crowd numbers, inflated as they are imo, are a reaction,
again imo, to our meteoric rise in 2014 via AO when even "Bones" Mc Dermott said "Port own AO" and Kochie provocatively said
"we've got more supporters" than them.

Look what they did on March 29th 2014 the 1st showdown at AO. Their run thru' banner "our town" or whatever it said and that
banner draped down the length of the InterContinental. The spooked "Barry and Beryls" showed up en masse to reclaim their 'mantle'.
Yeah it gets tiresome having to put up with their constant attacks but over time they've given us enough ammo that we can give as good
as we get. Just lately their State jumper-gate, 8 goal GF humiliation, player exodus etc and not forgetting of course Captain Tex
it all adds up to the "quiet please" customers feeling a bit vulnerable. Hence the aggro.

If he wanted to prosecute it certainly would, in a protected area, with a reasonable assumption that he wouldn't be touched etc.

It's common assault, and very clear, no harm needs to be caused.

99% the person would have a conviction recorded.

To convict of Common Assault, the prosecution must prove each of the following matters beyond a reasonable doubt:
  • You struck, touched or applied force to another, or threatened another with immediate violence (this is very clear and nobody is debating this)
  • You did so intentionally or recklessly (I don't believe he leaned over and did it accidentally, I don't think he would be able to establish reasonable doubt here)
  • Without consent (this much is clear)
  • Without lawful excuse (I didn't see the player about to commit a criminal offence, unless you count losing to the Crows as such).

Technically the fan also entered the field of play, so should have a $5000 fine and ban.

I want Sloane to stay with the Crows...he'll be 29 when season starts next year and 3 quarts cooked.
St Kilda would probably be stupid enough to offer a top 5 pick tho..
THIS!!!

If he goes for a decent pick, the Crows win. He is hugely on the decline and if his injury is for real it will be even quicker.

I reckon it's contract length as the sticking point for Sloane.

The Facebook guy is a crers member, offered to hand in his membership but coward fages stuck his head in the sand and refused to even comment on the behaviour, even if to set a standard.

Similar to Ryder being racially abused, zero acknowledgements from the crers. They know they don’t need to so they don’t waste their time.

Meanwhile their little ambassadors apologises for his opinion so he doesn’t lose his precious ambassadorship

Pissant state

Carn dude.

It’s not about the actual severity of contact, it’s pretty clear people shouldn’t be reaching over the fence and touching players.

The line is there for a reason.

I don’t disagree. That level of fan-player interaction is silly. Give them a week or two off. Simple.

Then you don’t know what the word assault means.

http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/sa/consol_act/clca1935262/s20.html

Please explain how the incident in question does not fit the actual legal definition of assault provided above.

I don’t think it really fits any of the criteria listed. There was no real physical force applied, and the guy knew there was no chance of Wood really objecting in any way. If anything it’s just dumb. Give the guy a game ban from the footy. A month if you’re feeling harsh. Revoking his membership? Carn.

When we fine and ban people for putting a foot on the oval, why should there be a lesser punishment for striking a player?

Because running out onto the field of play is absolutely, positively different to reaching over the fence and giving a player a tap

Gee commentators are dumb and biased at times.

Not to mention Freo and West Coast getting ‘home’ games against GC played at Optus. And that Gold Coast have played exactly as many games at Jiangwan Stadium as we have. Carn Caro.

If the SMA over-inflate Crow crowd numbers and understate ours, is that not fraud? I don't see how they can get away with this. Surely crowd figures are audited?

It evens out in the end... ;-)

If he stays he ties up a big chunk of salary, reducing their ability to chase free agents or trades for decent players. Losing the likes of Dangerfield and Lever was amusing, but it has allowed them to keep turning their list over.

Some mid-table finishes, without decent picks or trades is what will see a big cliff for them in 2-3 years. A past it Sloane, Jenkins, Betts, Jacobs and Walker in 2020. If they haven’t traded any of them out (or received free agent compensation) it’s half a decade of being nowhere near it then.

I see the latest line is they should offer Sloane a one year deal for 2019, with it publicly there he’ll be off to Victoria after. With saying they think most Adelaide fans would be ok with that, as it’d be up front, rather then the usual ‘I’m considering my options / no decision yet’ lines. I don’t know if any clubs supporters would handle it well, but Adelaide’s would have to be the least likely. It’d be a combination of Beryl’s ‘Rory, you were such a nice young man, why are you abandoning us?’ And ‘Rory you’re a traitor’ as soon as he had an off game or there was a loss.

Lol such a persecution complex in here.
Probably so, but you can bet your bottom dollar that seven news Adelaide would have done their own investigative journalism to bring any Port fan to account for such an act.
