Thought the difference was probably the Royals' number one key defender going off 60 seconds into the match. Left them a rotation down (exacerbated by Vardy looking like he was on limited minutes) and left Ollen and Rotham outmatched by Keitel and Lourey.

West Perth still the better performed team on the day but it would have been a lot closer if Anderson had been able to stay out there.
West Perth had far superior ball use, skills, decision making and didn't make many basic skill errors.

Brander and Oscar the only real positives from that game for me.

I think we should put Matt Allen back permanently and shift Oscar forward. He has the bulk and the pace to compete down there and would allow Oscar to play his natural game. Oscar should also get a run through the middle. It can't really happen when he's down back.

Webster seems to have all the creativity of a sponge in the box, sadly.

Agree about the Allens. I see the temptation to play Oscar back though.

Good effort by Pukeington with 27 touches 7 tackles. Not Bubbas best game but 27 touches, maintaining his WAFL average of 24 touches a game. Every game I've seen him play he is still running hard in the last quarter and picking up touches. His ground coverage for WAFL would be elite - not bad for a 19 year old.

At the back end of the 2014 season Schoey, Mitch Brown, Emac and a few players were doing a lot more gym work than usual and it was a blessing in disguise for Schoey for the following year when he was big enough to take on the oppositions tall forwards. Think we seriously need to do that with Josh Rothan and maybe Oscar Allen.

Snapped from the pack that lead directly to a WP goal.

Yes that was a mistake, but rushing a quick kick from a stoppage in the D50 is an error i've seen even top tier midfielders do at AFL level, simply because there is so much pressure. Bit harsh to call out that as a flaw in his game today when he offered great attack on the contest and good rebound all day.

So by the sounds of it no one is knocking the door down for an AFL Game out of today's effort.

I'm really unsure why we drafted Ainsworth. I don't see anything in him that screams AFL standard. His kicking and decision making is atrocious. Waste of a mid 20s pick.

Plenty of his kicks that I saw were fine. Some short passes were flat bullets. He was drafted because he has a big tank for a kid which will only get better, knows how to find the ball, is quite clever in traffic, is pretty good overhead, and is courageous. He looks to have the type of frame where he will fill out into a solid boy.

Did you watch the game mate?

I don't really barrack for a wafl side but the umpiring was shite house.
I watched in total probably half the game, I didn't see anything to get upset about, must of missed all the biased decisions.:p

Partingtons curse continues....

Be interested to hear from anyone who saw the reserves to see if they witnessed the Burrows incident and his conduct towards the end of the game. Not sure someone who had 4 disposals, 3 frees against and 4 50m penalties against should act with such arrogance.

Well, with one of the umpires, that swans had the previous week, I'm hardly surprised. :)
