Gold Coast - what the hell is happening here?

As a long time Richmond supporter it is hard to ignore that leadership in setting up culture is as important high end draft picks when building a decent/competitive side. Many ex players have stated the culture at GC is shagged .
The players are the biggest stakeholders in driving culture at a club, so if ex-players are saying that the culture was crap then they would have been part of the problem.

2 points in their last four final quarters.

Thats 2 point over the same time as an entire game.

That is both mental and fitness related.
Also chemistry, they don't play together long enough to know each other move, prestia , ablett , Saad,Matera all gone .Sam day injured nearly all season last year . The continuety just not there .

How much continuity has Saint Kilda had? And the Saints were two players down for more than just the last quarter.

Well if Bolton and Fagan get their first year as trial and error , Dew should have that allowance too, how long Richardson with the saints? Dew is not a magician he need time to know players strength and weakness , just as when Simpson came to Eagles.

They haven't kicked a goal in last quarters for a month. There's no excuse for that. Fitness, mental fortitude, there is simply no excuse for not kicking a goal. The players just don't care. They don't give a s**t. And that's not an entire blanket statement - May and what seem like they do - but in general the attitude is just pathetic. Lynch is going there's no doubt about it. And anyone else who doesn't want to be there should be shown the door.

Bit unfair to say the players don't care. It is a mental battle and they are aware of it obviously with all the talk going on. This year was always going to be tough with Gaz leaving and the rebuild in full swing we're only half way through our first season with a new coach so lets take a step back and be honest who was actually expecting much? The players need time to adapt to Dew's game plan. We had nearly half the season away from Metricon. We have also been ravaged by injuries. There are a lot of contributing factors to why we are playing the way we are right now and on top of that we have a young list as well.

The problem with 'showing players the door' is who actually wants to play for Gold Coast? Who can we bring in instead? We can't seem to attract A grade or elite talent so we have to make the most out of what we have on our list and try and become a marketable team.

It was certainly a diabolical result for the club, which could really haunt them going forward. They would have been aware of their sluggish finishes and the Saints final flurries, and with the Saints 2 men down what the Suns produced was totally inept.

One of those close finishes where it gets to the point that no one deserves a win, you start craving a draw as punishment for both clubs, some terrible moments of footy in that last quarter. Temporary reprieve for Richardson.

Was told that the Cats are into May. And that if the Suns arent showing something when he is next out of contract he will likely look elsewhere.

The AFL will need to do something.

Have kicked a grand total of two points in their last four final quarters.

Today in particular, they were 31 points up at three-quarter time with two extra rotations on the bench and still couldn't score.

I don't think I've seen a team, especially in the professional era, who has so conistently dropped their bundle as the game comes to an end.

Is this a fitness failure from the Suns or do they exhibit the signs of a mentally weak culture?
Both.
Although it was conveniently totally ignored by the commentary team that Jack Bowes, who was playing very well to that point, was also missing from midway through the 3rd due to a quad injury.

Really? Taking pot shots at North Melbourne when you've had one good year of footy? We spanked you for over 11 years get outta here seriously

I read it as he was saying north have rebuilt and quickly, didn't read it as a pot shot.

So then why did the club put up with retaining them for all those years?
If they were rotten apples then why were they not moved on?
Brown was sacked after 3 years.
Brennan retired after his first contract was finished.
Hunt was basically sacked after 4 years when it was discovered he was on the gear.
Dixon was basically let go after being seen as unprofessional, a destabilising influence and then asking for too much money.
Krakouer left for mental health reasons after just one season.

So they were all moved on pretty quickly.
