What do you mean?
Johnson and another Freo guy got Gaff in a real good bump, ball wasn't really there either

Reckon Ross was telling Balla to go after him as well, Simpson was wise to tell Gaff to stay off the field

Yes, it was really funny, they both shirtfronted him simultaneously and bumped each other very hard as well.

It's not in the same class as the Hall king-hit. What did he get? Should be less than that, but the broken jaw might make it worse. Was Hall's victim damaged, apart from the concussion?
You can't compare it to Hall's hit, that was over 10 years ago now. If Hall did the same hit today I'd times it by 1.5 whatever it got back then.

For a player that has never seemingly played in such a physical fashion, what the hell possessed him to do that? He's a great player but that will be one of the defining moments of his career, much like Hall v Staker.
I wonder if his contract situation has put additional pressure on him and then I think his manager (Connors IIRC) made some recent comments to the effect that six Vic clubs were chasing him.
For a quiet unassuming guy to suddenly be thrust into the spotlight might have been a contributing factor...but he’s the last guy you’d expect to do it (other than Mackay).

Honestly, wouldnt be surprised if they threw the book at him and gave him 10-12.

Yeah, I know this is a man's game. But something about doing that to a skinny 18 year old kid makes it even worse than if it was just another bloke. It was a cowardly, disgraceful act no matter who he hit. But, it just makes it a little bit worse. Imagine how this looks to mums and dads with talented 14 year old kids. We are saying sacrifice your time and money into this and your kid could be an Andy Brayshaw in 4 years time. Well that promise doesn't look so good today.

Have to agree with this. Complete act of cowardice and deserves everything he gets for it.

I think Andrew Gaff will re-sign with West Coast for 2 years now. Could be untouchable and his reputation is damaged.

While by no means excusing his actions, and by no means should it reduce the penalty, Gaffe appears genuinely shattered about what he's done.
What i find ridiculous in modern society is the need for people to compete for outrage.

Reading twitter and other social media calling Gaff a dog or dog act or actually anything else is a sad reflection of modern footy fans.

Gaff has ****ed up and ****ed up really really badly, but that's it, he isn't a worse person because of it. People need to get a grip.

We're lucky that our rivalry is built on good strong football not on that kind of shit.

The Derbies have been no different to the Showdowns, in a "thuggish" sense, until today. The Gaff hit was from nowhere. Complete brain melt. It could just as easily happen in a Showdown, or any game. Just not often.

And the comments on the AFL post showing Gaffe's remorse is a true example of this.

'Oh he's just sorry he's missing finals', 'He should be charged with assault', 'Sorry he was caught'

If people want to see an example of no remorse at all, check out the Filipino basketball team.
