To repeat, there is no excuse and he deserves a very long stint on the sidelines. So let's get that out of the way first.

Brayshaw was paying close attention for much of the game to Gaff and there was a complete brain fade. It happens. Now he will be punished for it and I hope West Coast and Gaff do whatever they can to help in Brayshaw's recovery. I believe he has already issued an apology and I suspect he will take whatever the tribunal dishes out without complaint.

yeah thats a fair whack to cop that. I suppose its debatable if a fractured jaw and 3 dislocated teeth is worse. Certainly Brayshaw will be out of the game longer than Andrews or would be if the season wasn't over.
The other thing to consider is the Andrews incident wasn't a punch in the face off the ball even if the result was similar.

Had this happened on the street and the ground was concrete, a broken jaw would have been the least of the issue. Any punch to the head in any circumstances should be condemned. The bravest is the one that walks away from such confrontations, be it in a sport or in life
