I'm in two minds about the AFL allowing punches. Aside from the Gaff incident nothing really untoward has come from it and it happens literally a hundred times a game. It's unnecessary to smash a bloke when the consequences can be severe but it would a difficult thing for the umpires to police.

As for Gaffs punishment, it's tough but fair. Personally I still think Cameron's action was the worst thing I've seen on a field this year. Kind of feel for Gaff a little, I think it's obvious he didn't mean to ruin Brayshaw's mouth but I understand if others disagree.

Fully agree.

Have a no punch policy from Round 1, MRP backs it up and consistently prosecutes offenders. If the consistency occurred, we would be a happy bunch.

Hit the offending players, and after 3 Rounds the problem will have disappeared. Some stars of the game, may get caught, but hey if it cleans this part of the game up, no one should complain.

So what are you advocating in this case?

Mediation between who and whom? Gaff and Brayshaw? (“Brayshaw, when Gaff whacked you, how did that make you feel?”). What would be the point of that?
