Play Nice Was that Gaffs last game for WC?

I dont think players should be rubbed out of a gf for a one week offense. No way - inordinate punishment.

The system we have now is shit - the organisation in charge of it - is gaming it so people arent rubbed out.

Simple solution - 3 for 1

Last year trent cotchin should have had a 1 match suspension - he can take one match in the gf - or 3 next year.

Or if he retires 3/22 x his salary.

Voila - you kill a few birds with one stone here.

1)Noone wants stars rubbed out of gfs.

2) being rubbed out of a gf is how much more of a punishment than a season match

3) the afl corrupting itself to ensure stars play

4) players maybe going a bit harder than they normally would thinking the afl will let them off.
Not a great suggestion.

A player would accept 12 weeks the following year, maybe even the full season of home and away games, if it meant they could play in the Grand Final.

When you're playing in a Preliminary Final you are playing for high stakes. High risk, high reward and all that - you do the crime in a big Final, you do the time by missing the bigger game the following week.

Only would apply to possible 1 week bans I assume?

I don’t agree with the suggestion by the way. If you do the crime you do the time, whenever that may be.

Duly noted and apologies for arrogance. However, this shit happens all the time. And has happened a number of times in this thread. Yet nothing has been done about it.
learn and lesson and we all grow from it.. or well we like you more for creating a world of likeness..
it happens but when you don't say nothing about it we all crack the shits and then we tell you yu are shit..

but you are not quite because we all understand..

Why your name is dick and you called yourself Leeda?
well surely one is not akin to another.. but Leeda is a smart thing and the 'dick' is another;.. but u don't need to shave to
understand this all ways... I'm not that silly... peel aint growing much when you don't get it into your group...
these things are shooting always in different directions...

Well do you really concerned about people growing in their group or your own Ego system growing .

Mark Brayshaw's view is a calming one, not necessarily a definitive one.

Doesn't really explain the message sent to the home crowd by the other Eagles players who went up and encircled Gaff in the last quarter after he converted a set shot goal when the margin was 62 points.
It's 100% typical of any footy team.

Except that the afl are fudging it by letting players off.

My solution allows for punishment - and hell deterrence - as the first player to lose a gf and then have 12 weeks off next season will figure out.

I think King makes a good point. This whole thing has been a circus in the media. Foxfooty has literally posted 40+ articles/posts on their facebook page over the incident in 3 days. Everytime you tune into any sort of media the Gaff incident has comes up and people blasting him.

I know they are different incidents, but it's actually reminding me a bit of the Australian Cricket cheating scandal. Most Aussie were saying the media is going way to over the top with their treatment of the situation and started actually feeling bad for the cricketers. A lot of Eagles fans feel its a bit too much now with Gaff, and even some opposition fans I've spoken too have felt the same.

I know a lot of opposition supporters (especially Freo) will be saying Gaff deserves it all, the thing is that is exactly what Indian/African/Pom cricket fans were saying about the Aussie Cricketers. Meanwhile most Australians actually felt bad for them.

Some people need step back for a minute and put aside who you support and look at Gaff as a remorseful athlete who made a mistake on the field and has been punished for it (like the cricketers).

Gaff certainly isn't the victim in this case, and he definitely deserved criticism over the incident, but not to the extent that he has with so much of it going too far. His mental state and well being needs to be taken into consideration after his treatment by the media, with how hard everyone seems to be going in on him to get a story.

I've been saying the same thing about the Steve Smith scandal.
The media have gone so far over the top.
Mark Bradshaw spoke very well today and was rational about the whole incident.

Pity so many freo fans can't be the same and must act so outraged.
