Training 2019 preseason

I’m looking forward to Libba being able to get in the face of the opposition again. He’s not that big, but he’s as tough as they come & to be honest, he’d probably be scary out on the field
AFL academy peeps saying that Jack Viney is the toughest kid that has come through the program, West probably second. That's huge.

West does need to work on his tank a little but given his dad's commitment to training it won't be an issue.

Pre-season in a nutshell
It's been a stay-the-course approach at Whitten Oval. An unchanged coaching panel, albeit with several assistants re-deployed into different roles, has largely trusted the training processes of recent seasons. Evergreen defender Dale Morris hasn't missed a beat with the 35-year-old setting standards along with fellow veteran Liam Picken. A welcome sight on the track, Picken was back early with the first-to-four-year players despite entering his 10th season and missing the entire 2018 campaign due to concussion issues. Marcus Bontempelli, Josh Dunkley and Mitch Wallis have also been standouts, with the latter and Jackson Trengove becoming part of a six-man leadership group.

Injury list
Bailey Dale:
After missing the second half of 2018 following a stress injury to the navicular bone in his foot, Dale has been diligent this off-season focusing on his recovery. He is back running and progressing nicely and could join the main group at training within the next fortnight.

Caleb Daniel: The midfielder required post-season surgery to clean up cartilage in his knee. Has resumed running and is expected to progress his training load in the lead-up to the Christmas period.

Billy Gowers: The Bulldogs' 2018 leading goalkicker has been limited to running after a car accident that fractured his wrist. He will integrate back into football-based work over the next few weeks.

Jason Johannisen: Renowned for his power running from half-back, the 26-year-old had a minor operation to address a hip injury that he managed through the back end of the season. He will gradually build his training loads into next year.

Liam Picken: After not playing a game in 2018 through concussion symptoms, Picken continues to have persistent headaches but to a lower level and remains in a non-contact training model. Further testing is a necessity before progressing back into full training.

Lukas Webb: The 22-year-old sustained a rare compression injury to a bone in the upper back area of his spine, requiring specialists in his recovery. Although he is back doing low-level running, he is still in a neck brace for the next two months before further scans will determine the next step.

Just Do It, Bont
Marcus Bontempelli ticked a special box in the off-season when he trained at the Nike centre in Portland and a college in San Diego. The experience was shared with former NRL player Valentine Holmes. - Paul Bastin

Hey guys sorry for the early fantasy footy question haha couldn't found a specific thread

Anyways just on Macrae, can someone explain to me why he doesn't get tagged often?

Is it because he's not seen as being damaging or just opposition coaches haven't caught on how good Macrae is yet? Or perhaps does someone else at the bulldogs get the tag ahead of Macrae?

People tend to try to tag Bont or JJ first. JJ is more susceptible to it, but Bont is obviously the key to our success.

I think Macrae is a little under rated, but also more difficult to take out of the game, so perhaps people put their attention elsewhere....

Good luck trying. It doesn't work, he's a monster and will still rack up his 30 possessions whilst you lose/waste a player that's trying to tag him.

Not quite as damaging as Bont and JJ

Similar to Gaff really, he just runs too hard & he's a two-way runner. Taggers generally can't match it, or at least sustain it

Once Crozier recovered from his leg injury against GWS, i actually thought he was one of our best players of the season.
His ability to interpret across half back and have a booming kick really help springboard us

Totally agree. I’d love to see him run out in the red, white and blue...but I’d love him to look after his future more.

No need to be a hero and ruin his life.
He's on 198 isn't he? Give him two more games somehow. Given he was our player of the finals series in 2016 he should get life membership anyway.

Play him up forward one out. Who's going to match up on him??? He can take a screamer, scrap on the ground, one on one...probably kick 6 a game (I'm getting carried away but why not throw him down there for a couple)
