Australia v India, 3rd Test at the MCG Dec 26-30

Looking at the pitch, all I can say is it will be nice to have a boxing day test match next year in a state capable of producing a good wicket.

Except those figures aren’t the norm for our regular bowlers like they are with MMarsh and his right arm medium shit.
Why feel the need to lay the boot in when he’s bowled pretty well today?

Merely perspective.
If Australia did this we'd all be saying how great it is.
You’d probably say well played if it was 2/300+ but the fact that neither really got on top is pretty bad. The best games swing back and forth.. this one was a stalemate from ball one. Not an armwrestle, just a dead game.

not if we only scored a little over 200 runs. That's dreadful, no matter who is batting.

Whether the players like it or not cricket is entertainment and that is not entertaining in any way. Keep that up and test cricket will go the way of one day cricket

Why feel the need to lay the boot in when he’s bowled pretty well today?
Because he shouldn’t be in the side. Paine could have bowled with his wicketkeeping gloves on and done a similar job to what Marsh did today.

What was he like?
Selfish prick who batted for his own statistics and couldn't care less about the side. Off the top of my head one anecdote I recall is that he figured out how to pick Australian mystery spinner Gleesons variation ball out of the hand but declined to let his teammates know how. Another infamous one is that England were in the position to win a Test with some aggressive batting, but Boycott stuck with his slow defensive style, so Ian Botham deliberately ran him out for the good of the side. Also screwed a lot of people in his domestic side over.

Sentiment of the period was that Boycott and Lawry were going to kill Test cricket.

So you don’t think he bowled well?

I’d say you’ve got your blinkers on.

Don't watch it then. Go and watch some highlights of Jakey tearing it up in 2018, test cricket is maybe just not for you.
Jeez Stringer leaving really did a number on you Gordo. Pages of posts of people slamming the pitch and mine is the one you quote.

Let it go sweetie.

He hasn’t bowled well enough to warrant me going on an Internet forum and defending him from the naysayers as if I were his mother.

I'd say the odds are shortening by the day that some of the quicks will be rested for the Sri Lankan Tests, they've done a lot of bowling already this summer and the Ashes and World Cup loom.

Yes I think Aussies should Rest Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood for the fourth test and play Tremain, Bolland & Sandhu

Things I did today while the cricket was on:
- Cleaned up after Xmas
- Vacuumed for an hour, including literally scrubbing on my hands and knees
- Gardening
- Played computer games for 2+ hours
- Gave the dog a hair cut and washed him
- Slept

And missed nothing.

Disagree. He played the fifth bowler role well, kept it tight, didn't let the batsmen have a free swing or get comfortable, and created a few chances. Paine couldn't have done that.

Now, I don't think it's enough to justify his selection over the other options, and I don't think he's yet proved that the extra bowler was necessary or gone beyond the bare minimum, but so far he has contributed more than Handscomb and has played the role.

Personally disagree with the media giving him credit for his economy rate though. Says more about how the bowling unit is working than it does about Marsh personally.

Lol. Why so salty?

Tis the season to be happy. You seem like an angry man. I’ve opened my heart to Josh Lalor and Neser. Maybe you can do the same to Mitch?

Are we ignoring a couple that kept down for near LBWs and the one that dropped short of Ussie?
The variable bounce deliveries? Anyone can get those, ask Vihari. His economy is good and he's bowling a tight line, but gets almost no swing and basically no movement off the seam.

I put together a bird feeding station like an old man and loved it.

I’ll open my heart to him if he performs well on a consistent basis.
