Gibbs says the co-captaincy is a masterstroke. I can see why he used why he used the word masterstroke. The bar is set quite low in crowland:

- the crows death stare
- the cult-camp
- attempt to wear State guernsey in the first showdown in 2014
etc etc
They're stroking something down there at crowland.

Is AFLX ruining the perception of the AFL and revealing AFL players as the mercenaries for hire that everyone suspects they are, but refuse to acknowledge?

It's degrading the entire brand and the 'vibe' of what made the tribal nature of supporting football, great.

It takes players from all sides and mashes them together in a format no one asked for purely for money and expansion reasons.

It breaks down that fundamental barrier of team loyalty and rivalry. Yes, state of origin did that to a certain extent too, however there was still a reason to play it, a rivalry and the support was fiercely parochial. Most of all - players wanted to do it and it showed. It wasn't about money it was about pride and competitiveness.

AFLX makes a mockery of everything we knew AFL to be. It takes something people take seriously and turns it into a gimmick.

I hope Gillons legacy is a grandiose failure of this ****ing stomach bile of a creation.

I’d love to see my face if future-me had’ve tugged my coat in the immediate aftermath of torching the Bulldogs by 12 goals to go 11-2 in 2014 and said, “one of these clubs wins the 2016 flag... and it’s not us”.

When Kochie was riding high and saying "we want to bring back the fun to footy"
Then we lost 6 of our next 9 games costing us a double chance. Roll on 2015 '16 '17' '18 and as for Koch's fun mantra
it's been a barrel of laughs ever since.

I feel like the way players have traded and asked for trades over the last decade has achieved this more than AFLX has.

I think AFLX is just amplifying what has become the norm with free agency and trading.
Club loyalty is pretty much a thing of the past. It’s a business and I think we’re already seeing more and more high profile players chase the dollars.

There's a lot of player movement in AFLW too that feels very round robin gala day hit n giggle like.

I'm wracking my brains trying to remember who asked for it again.

Watching 7's cricket coverage its another reminder how good a commentator Tim Lane is.

Wonder if 7 sports executives have had a good think about poaching him from 3AW if not completely, maybe for one of the 3 games they cover each week (+ the 8 Thursday night games and 3 public holiday games) and team him up with Bruce.
