I don't think it would be the worst thing for Dow to go back for a few weeks and freshen up and get a few kicks and dominate. Might be good for him?

Might also be a complete waste of time as dominating lower level doesn't help compete against AFL level mids.

How many of our AFL listed players have "dominated" in the VFL in recent times? And how many of those have carried that form into the AFL when they have been brought up?

Everyones different. I have no issue what happens. Just offering a different option

I would think he now checks the durability box as he hasn’t missed many games in the last 1-1/2 years.

As far as hardness goes his tackle numbers are really good at 6.3 per game and clearances are at 7.6 both elite numbers for an inside mid.

Also won the Most Courageous Player award for Ports SANFL side as well as second in the B&F.

Not sure about contested numbers but I would surmise they would have to be above 12 a game, so based on all that I think he now ticks the hardness box as well.

So that’s 3 boxes checked and I’m not sure how quick he is but not sure it matters for what we need him for.

Point being his current stats are on an upward trajectory, he has moved on from his bad old injury riddled mis managed Melbourne days and he could just explode back on to the scene and give us exactly what we need, for very little risk or cost, he’s younger than Rockliff who we wanted and has obvious leadership qualities as he was once the youngest ever Captain in the history of the AFL, which was of course a huge mistake but doesn’t take away from the fact that he has leadership qualities. I just think it’s a no brainer as far as risk vs reward goes.

I honestly believe he is ready to become the player everyone thought he was going to be when he was drafted at no2. I know it in my gut.

If we are targeting players like Trengrove, I would rather a kid like Jordan Foote

That's pretty much how I have them ranked. Bolton is the guy with a ton of talent.
Yeah bang on Plow if we are going to target any of them Bolton would be the one, has done a lot of hard work on his forward pressure and tackling to get into the side, I think even Baker played in the same u18 WA team as Bolton, SPS and Fish, could be wrong. Bolton would fit in at Carlton imo.

Not for me.

Focus is on mature ready made bodies now. Get that right and with our developing midfield I don't see kicking goals or having a functioning forward line as an issue at all
Still need at least one specialist small forward although as I said the other day I’d be targeting A M Tipungwuti who is out of contract, has the mature body and is versatile as well.

Just think Trengove can offer us more in leadership and experience which is what we are crying out for in the midfield, Foote while at 23 has longevity but to me it’s just adding to the inexperience that is already causing problems, we need that 25-27 older age group imo as our cupboard is almost bare.

Been training as a defender and looked good there in the VFL the times he went back over last 2 weeks. Be interesting to see what happens. Was very good as a mid last week though. I remember Bulldogs supporters saying Jones was tried as a defender and didn't work either. Times change
If Lang does come in I wouldn’t mind seeing him get a run in the middle where he did so well last week In the 2s, that and rotating forward maybe with Gibbons and him with a 50/50 split, need to see more players in the middle to give the young guys a chop out and see what other options we have.

I think he would do a lot better than people would expect.

Has a large midfielder sized body. His main weakness for mine is one one one defending in marking contests. I think midfield would show up his strength a lot more. IE disposal efficiency etc

Let's give him a go. What do we habe to lose. He could be ready made support for Cripps in the middle. We could already have that support for Cripps on our list without realising.

I think once Doc is back, and willow MacReadie etc come on Plow may find it difficult fitting in the backline.

Could be a win win win.

Let's try it.
We might find Doc spending a fair bit more time in the midfield himself.

I'm all for it. I thought it was the plan when we got him. Lot of talk about him developing into a midfielder. With Weitering Jones Marchbank Macreadie Goddard Willo Schumacher etc I'm sure we can try it. Even to tag someone and provide some size around the ball.
Not sure his hands are good enough or clean enough in tight situations, however I’d love to be proven wrong.

I'm not writing him off yet. Just want to see him fit and have a good run at it. I've seen him play some very good football before
A fit and firing Lang will be a very good player for us in a lot of different positions and roles, started to show he’s getting back there last week, a long way from a write off imo.

That list doesn't fill me with hope in regards to consistent pressure/goal kicking forwards.

Murphy and Thomas can play a role up forward, but for maybe 2 more years?
Fasolo hasn't set the world on fire yet, also doesn't provide any fwd pressure.
Cunners is definitely an option, but struggles to get on the park.
Pickett is a write off for the near future.
I'd say Lebois and Garlett won't be on the list in 2020.
SPS and Dow are mids, as are Stocker and Walsh. gibbons was forced to play small forward and showed very little.
Owies is a rookie who's a project player.
Polson has a go, but can never find the footy or the goals.

We definitely need a couple of specialist small forwards who can provide pressure(i.e tackles, forcing turnovers), while also being able to kick goals.

Bolton would add an extra dimension to the forward 50 we are lacking.
I think Gibbons is starting to provide that, he is ranked top 10 for pressure in the forward 50 in the AFL and is now starting to add goals to that as well as he becomes a little less selfless and more confident that he belongs. Don’t underestimate what Gibbo can become.

We also have Jack Kerr & TDK. Papley I would like as he has some toughness & physicality which we need

If we can get a winning midfield along with all these forward options I don't see kicking a winning score as an issue.
Your spot on Soap we’ve seen already this year that when our midfield is on top or breaking even our Forward line and backline for that matter are more than capable of doing the job for us. Once our midfield is ready to go consistently, how we achieve this is debatable, we will really take some major steps forward.

Our forwardline isnt the problem, especially with Cunners complementing the talls. Getting enough supply to them is a problem however.
But luckily it’s only a temporary one, after that everyone best get out of the way cause we is coming and we ain’t takin no prisoners on our way, friend or foe step the **** aside or get trampled.

Super athletic, plays with an edge and physical presence, very strong overhead, nice skills. Just needs adequate tutelage on the art of rucking.

He's a great prospect, can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks.
Unbelievable potential TDK, has so many exciting attributes could seriously be one of the best big men in the comp as a finished product, let’s just hope he doesn’t have anymore setbacks, definitely needs to work hard on his ruck craft but other than that wowee.

I agree, TDK should be groomed as our next number 1 ruckman, he just suits the modern day style.

All i want is a durable, mobile, competitive when resting forward, 23-26 year old, at the end of the year and delist Lobbe and Phillips
I’ve read some very Kreuser like reviews on Walsh’s brother, apparently attacks it hard when the ball hits the ground and pressures and tackles like the big fella too, will have to keep a close eye on him as he is not old enough for this years draft but might be worth a look in 2020.

i'm sure at training he hits targets like they're going out of fashion. he needs to work on executing his skills under pressure and fatigue, but not sure a stint in the VFL is ideal for that.

But overall i think he's tracking very nicely, he's the least of our concerns.
