I guess it would be an Australian football only thing. Every other sport has a set size for the playing field. Easy enough to find a place to train east west or north south.
In this day and age with the professionalism (or in AFL HQ non professionalism) of the game and varied ovals, it's just common sense to develop a training facility like that.
Soccer doesn't have a fixed size.
Rugby union doesn't have a fixed size.
Rugby league has variability in the length of the end goal area.

Will you send Fages or Shutts the main questions earlier as well?
If yes, was this a directive / requirement of the meeting?
Yeah we do, mainly because it speeds up the process. They ask us to, for that purpose.

Soccer, league & union are all 100y by 50y.
FIFA, the IRB and RLIF disagree.

The laws specify a range of acceptable sizes.

E.g.
Football (Fifa):
The entire playing field should be within the following dimensions: Standard–> Touch line (length): 90 m (100 yd) to 120 m (130 yd); Goal line (width) : 45 m (50 yd) to 90 m (100 yd)

Etc.

The width would encroach on parklands. They widened the max they could with the redevelopment.

Any way I prefer our dimensions. We can have a training ground with MCG dimensions.

That's nice and convenient
If you're implying that it allows them to prepare an answer, I don't actually see that as an issue. We're not asking for any national secrets here.

Wrong

The world's second most popular sport is played on grounds in the founding nation that look like this:

About as much as the hotel will ;)

We should invest in that, set up the admin and club in that and use AO for training, problem solved. I can’t imagine anyone being upset with it
Be a great sell for draftees, family can come over feel part of the club.

Im in the other boat, i hate the SMA but i think it would be fantastic.
Think it will destroy the look of the stadium from the outside & is not a need as they are building a new hotel on the festival plaza, just a short walk across the bridge.

From the renders it didn't look much different i thought.

You can differ all you want, you are wrong.

Ground size was made as big as it could be based on the lease provided to AO from ACCC.

Was never going to be MCG size!

Edit the hotel will be built on existing footprint.

Meh, it's a stadium. Bet in 5 years no one will care nor notice.

It's just a typical Adelaide fight the change mentality.

I'm a SACA member who voted for the redevelopment.

I supported the concept of the NRAH... though not how they have planned & funded it.

I usually support change which I think is for the better.

Not convinced a hotel next to Adelaide Oval is warranted.

How can it be built on the existing footprint? How can it have no footprint... because otherwise it's adding to the existing footprint.
