Yep, and Harry's set shot kicking has turned to s**t as well. he has plenty to work on.
I take it you've never had groin issues? lose your explosiveness, strength in your hips and your balance, also your kicking action generally goes wonky to compensate for the soreness. Harry looks cooked right now, wouldnt be surprised to see him rested the rest of the year after this game.

Betts would be an amazing acquisiton. The energy and electricity he would bring would be immense, not just on field, but off it! An amazing mentor! If he was cheap enough then this is a no-brainer - and post-footy get him coaching small forwards/advocating for indigenous football and pathways! The bloke is bigger than footy so if we can get him back around the club it will only create good things.

What would other clubs offer Levi that we can't? I'd give Levi two years in a heartbeat. Perhaps the last management is thinking they need to start getting games into TDK while Kreuzer is playing? We can't fit them all in our team. Another reason why chasing McGovern was a strange decision.
Don't think we've seen anything of what a fit Gov with pre seasons under his belt will do for the club in a Teague coached team. He'll be a star for us.

Very happy to give Cas 2 years and hopefully he stays. Depth is so necessary for a premiership tilt, and with his new found versatility he'll feature plenty.

Might be optimistic but the way we're going under Teague and looking at how quickly Brisbane rose, i'm thinking Cas is young enough to be around for a serious top 4 challenge and deep finals run. That would be the conundrum.

Probably wouldn't offer more than 2 years though and can definitely see another team like Dogs/North/Essendon offering 3.
I tend to agree with you, but we are reliant on three things:
Getting a small forward
Getting an A+ mid
Not having Kreuzer get injured (This has to be a focus at this draft)

Brisbane have had an unbelieeeevable run with injuries

Would take Betts back in a heartbeat.

If he can stay injury free for a year he would easily be in our best 22 and still one of the best small forwards in the comp.

If he gets injured he will still add plenty on the mentoring / coaching side.

As long as we aren't paying a high price it is a no brainer, Our membership would jump 5K on his return alone.

I'm a lot cooler on Gibbs

swap of 3rd round picks. just for the melts
We haven't got a second, so one of our 3rd's for Gibbs and their 2nd. That way Crows free up cash and we get our 2nd back.

'If' Doc doesn't get up, which is a real possibility by the averages, Gibbs is a must...

Gibbs is a MUST NOT under any circumstance.

We are moving forward not regressing back into the Club being a plaything for conditional players. He is now someone else's problem.

Good luck with his life, hope he puts Adelaide's retirement fund that his ex manager Reid somehow got for him to good use.

Levi can coach him on goal kicking.
Russell can do the other parts.

If Gibbs had not played for Carlton but was available as an experienced, injury free mature mid-fielder, available for medium pay and a second round draft pick - would your answer be still the same?

People are distracted by the fact that he chose to go to Adelaide. We still need an additional experienced, mature midfielder. If he was willing to come back, i dont understand why we wouldnt pick him up in a heartbeat

Spot on.. at 29, this next contract may be his last and he would be silly to take anything short of 3 years if a club offers it.

If Blues offer 2 years at 450 and another Club offered 3 at 500, I wouldn't be able to learn the new club song quick enough..

My gutfeel is with McGovern, Curnow, Marchbank to come in, Jones signing for 3 and TDK knocking down the door, the club would thank him for being a 100 game player and give him their blessing to move on.

The New Levi though, just gives us so much flexibility and depth. We never know when we will need coverage in KPD, KPF and Ruck. Priceless IMO. If he needs a 3 year deal- give it to him.

Gibbs was completely unconditional in playing great footy in the season following the non trade debacle. He could have backed off like so many do when they know they are leaving, but he played/worked very hard to be a major contributor to our team. We can thank him for that given he was still worth 2 first rounders to the crows.

If Cas is on the move I wish him all the luck.

If Charlie, McGovern and Harry are fit.

Jones, Marchbank and Weitering are fit.

Where does Cas play? Time isn't on his side he has been very loyal to us and if an opportunity arises I can't say I wouldn't take it.

All of our players staying with us until they retire won't happen. We have to be prepared to give up a few over the course

The thing is that-
Charlie is injury prone
Mitch is injury prone
Harry is injury prone
Marchbank is injury prone
Kreuzer is injury prone
Philips is injury prone
TDK is injury prone

Typo?

Why would we recruit any 30 year old players whoever they are? We may have to make hard decisions on Simo, Daisy or Caz at the end of the year let alone bringing one back who is not playing up to AFL standard footy.

My answer would be an absolute NO if he hadn't been a Carlton player.

And it would be an absolute NO in his real life equation that he has been an ex Carlton player that we know intimately.

He is playing SANFL for very good reasons.

Meanwhile we finally have a team coming to each training session and game with a mindset to bust a gut for 100 minutes to help the team win.

Gibbs was a part of a malaise that we are over. We don't need him in any way and we owe him nothing. We paid him handsomely for his whole career and got conditionality in return.

He is Adelaide and his ex manager's now.

After saying that, i reckon we were the downfall of Gibbs in the first place. He walked into a rotten club with rotten off field and on field leadership from the very start. All he learnt was ordinary traits from mostly ordinary leaders. His is an unfulfilled career not of all his own making.

But there is no going back to a conditional 30yo SANFL player with a questionable history.
