Someone said that an incident with Thomas happened a few weeks ago i think?

Sounds pretty definitive, I think Browne said a press conference has been arranged by Carlton tomorrow, with Daisy the speaker...that can only be to announce his retirement.

It's sad because he's playing so well, if we were contending or he was 2 years younger he'd be staying and best 22 in 2020.

Thanks. I must've missed that one. His last 2 years have been good and his current form is as good as it's ever been for us. It's a shame but all the best to him.

I am happy if the Blues feel confident that Doc/Williamson can take Daisy’s place next year but given their injury history and Daisy’s solid form I think it’s a bad gamble. Plus Daisy could play forward next year should the aforementioned get their bodies right. The small forward we desperately seek may be sitting under our noses (although a stopgap given his age).

We needed to start transitioning next year...couldn't afford to have both Simmo & Daisy.

With no injuries, we actually only usually play 3 small defenders, with the other 4 being Jones/Weitering/Marchbank/Plowman.
And we have Doc/Simmo/Newman/Willo as probably our first choices, but we also know SPS can fill a role back there and potentially Stocker & Schumacher could develop further in those roles.

So when you look at those names above, that's already 7 players...we have more than enough smaller defenders already without Daisy.

Imo, SPS has now found his spot on the back flank. I was hot on him as a full mid, and i still think he could be a full mid, but i think we have found a topline halfback playmaker now. Jimmy Bartel raised the idea mid last year. Said he really liked him and had been watching him during games and really thought Halfback would suit his mind. Astute, inate footy mind is Bartel.

Much like what you said, we'll play Jones, Weiters and Marchbank. Then our 1st choices are Doc, SPS, Willo, Plowman, Simmo, then Newman, Stocker and then even a few others.

The Daisy decision really wasn't rocket science. Unfortunate for Daisy, but he's had his fortunate and his unfortunate in footy. He'll be right. He's a doer.

Not to mention, he'll go straight into the media as a premiership player and a 100 game player for both Carlton and Collingwood. He's sufficiently cheeky that any role in the media - expert commentator, provocateur, newspaper columnist - will be open to him.

I, like a lot of others, was pretty ticked off when Malthouse brought him over (and the big $$ was adding insult to injury).
But over the last few years I've really warmed to him.
He did the right thing by the club as far as his contract went and really repaid the trust (and investment) the club has made in him.
Bleeds for the team and his experience has really helped hold us together at time.

I can understand we need a transition plan. Not sure if Doc and Willo can be trusted to get onto the park consistently enough to make him redundant, and SPS is still baby steps back there in spite of early good signs.

I'd like to see him get another year, with the understanding that he will probably play chunks in the magoos.
More importantly he's there as a mentor, and we can also allow him a bit of leeway to start the transition to media street if that's where he wants to go.
