Was always an eyebrow raising rumour, given how poorly Freo are travelling under Ross and how much trouble they have scoring...why would we want that? Well we didn't.

Is Jack Martin really that good? Must admit I haven't seen a lot of him but just looking at some of the video footage, he looks a decent player but a few rungs below superstar level. And he's already 24. Can anyone elaborate?

We're banking on potential, but he was a junior prodigy drafted into a poor football/fitness environment without a consistent position on field. Agile, skillful, good overhead - he could be lethal on a wing

Martin is a very good tackler for his size and is much better in the air than SPS. Martin is probably an upgrade as a defender over Thomas and SPS.

Having said that he's a better attacking player than defensive player imo, he'd be a little wasted down back. He's mostly down back from time to time with the Suns because they need medium defenders who can mark. Then he players forward because they need his marking and goal kicking ability. Then they need him on the wing for his run and class. Then they need him on the ball for his inside tackling and ball winning ability.

He's really not settled anywhere with them so it's hard to judge where he would fit in with us, he could be used anywhere. But personally I'd be disappointed if we signed him up to play him in the back line, despite the fact that he can do it well.

Kind of have to take Matthew Lloyd seriously (but not too seriously) these days considering the connection he has at Carlton, pretty interesting names included in that potential 2020 team. Can only hope anyway.

Grain of salt stuff really. I doubt he would know much more than most of us. All names mentioned are on here, plus some, Brad may say we are chasing xyz in general conversation but would be a fool to divulge too much information due to breaching trust of players involved. If it comes out of M. Lloyds mouth on TV, and is true, the board and everyone at CFC will be looking at Brad and thinking wtf.

Matty Lloyd truly was a beautiful set shot. Even that half time kicking competition he did against Carey a while back, still could nail them dead straight every time.

The club has offered Ross Lyon a God father offer, which he has knocked back at this stage. Lyon would prefer to stay in Perth.

I'm not refuting what you heard at all, may well have been true at the time but since Lyon has been sacked and we know he and SOS/Lloyd have a connection. Just wondering what the likelihood that Lyon may return to Carlton in some capacity as either a line coach, coaching mentor or director of coaching etc. If indeed we were interested in him at some stage and he wasn't interested in us, he's available now?

I actually would not mind him as a line coach or to just have him in the box in some capacity with Teague at the head. Reckon he would be a great asset in some capacity. Think it might be good to have a senior, experienced coach in our team who has been in the game a long time without being out of it.
