Interesting hearing Roo saying Chapman does his job as a volunteerSlept on it now, this entire thing from Chapman has made me so angry, and shows what a pathetic and dishonest corporation the AFC has become.
They are not interested in winning a flag, and they do not care about their fans or members.
He has basically invalidated any external review, before it has even commenced.
Hopefully Reid & co are smart to get us picks that aren't late ones. Where a player being traded might be worth that much, if we're able to negotiate pick upgrades in each case we could end up with useful 2nd or 1st round picks, or defer to next year's draft where Ogilvie thinks looks promising....
This isn't about our ability to re-populate our "best 22", it's about making sure our senior list doesn't end up being filled with players of limited talent, after we're forced to make multiple selections at 100+ in the ND, when the decent talent is long gone.

If we finish 8th, then nothing will happenThey wouldn''t even know what it is yet.
You guys need to calm down. We can still finish 8th, and then anything can happen.

We could also clean out our current rookie list and restock with players on 1 year deals and see how they turn out - let Ogilvie do his magic while we still have him.
ThanksYes
Don't know - probably yes.
Going with the AFL gave us a path to independence, which didn't exist under the SANFL. It also meant that the AFC were able to keep their profits, rather than having to pay them to the SANFL as a dividend.
How do I like and dislike the same comment?I'm not a newsbreaker but I can't see Sauce and/or Brad leaving.
good news is that we won'tIf we finish 8th, then nothing will happen
12th is more likely. That requires us to lose to the Bulldogs, and North to beat Melbourne. Both near certainties.good news is that we won't

we could always trade a future 2nd for say 2 x 3rd rounders this year or something along those lines if we needed to garner extra picks... and we're back where we started from.
Bundling picks, and defering picks to next year's draft, doesn't help us with re-stocking this year. It leaves us with fewer decent picks to use this year, when we have a large number of vacancies.
There's no point trading 3x players for 3x 2nd round picks, then trading those 3x 2nd round picks for 1x 1st round pick, if you end up making selections at #14, #102 and #107.
Would be nice if we could trade up to pick #14 but I was thinking more of upgrading a suite of picks, not just 3 for 1 type trades....

He's finally had 1 consistent year without injury and people are considering trading him?
Thats ridiculous.
We are still far away from seeing the best of BRouch. This year will give him so much confidence, and he will be an even better player next year. Must keep.
DFAChook Nixon rumours that Mason Wood on the table.
Yes he’s a tool but this is a rumour thread so don’t @ me
Sloane has more trade value than Brad, is older and slower. Why aren't those who are saying we should trade Brad on the trade Sloane train?I think you've answered your question right there. Even before he came to us, Brad had a checkered history with injury, albeit probably more trauma related, which continued significantly through to his time with us.
Since coming to us he has had 2 full seasons of playing no AFL football.
His history stacks up as:
2013: 14 games (of 22)
2014: 11 games (of 22)
2015: 0 games (of 24)
2016: 16 games (of 24)
2017: 20 games (of 25)
2018: 0 games (of 22)
2019: 21(likely 22) games (of 22)
Total: 82 of 160 possible thus far.
This is his first full season of seven, is that going to last?
From a pure footballing sense, I'd want to keep Brad, but he's highly injury prone, his disposal by foot has been bog average this year and his defensive work leaves a lot to be desired. Now my hope would be that he's past his injury woes and that with some consistency he will improve his disposal and defensive work. However, he's a risky proposition, he plays in a position where we have a fair bit of depth and in general I think our list needs a thorough cleaning out, plus Brad is one of our most valuable trade assets.
Posters talk about not trading our best midfielders in Brad and Matt, the trouble is despite having essentially a full midfield battery to choose from, our midfield has been woefully out of sorts all year. Brad and Matt are supposedly inside guns, yet we routinely have been beaten in this regard.
I think some tough decisions need to be made in terms of list management and effectively all players need to be looked at. Its more than just that the lists too old, I think the playing culture is broken, their spirit is broken from the events of the past 4-5 years and we need to get some significant new faces in and not just sell off our older guys for marginal value. For mine, the Crouch brothers aren't "untradeable", if someone comes knocking with reasonable value, I think we should consider.
Where are the other retirements? That's right they're not coming. Was expecting Jacob's, Mackay, Douglas by now minimum.Look at all of the social media on Andy Otten this week; they're absolutely hammering the s**t out of it, to try and distract everyone.

Not sure how I feel about trading crouch brothers now. I know our midfield sucks but can’t we just add quality on top of them and bat deeper? They’re still bloody good players, and I highly doubt we’ll get a top 2 draft pick which is what it would take IMO
Hartigan, Knight, Douglas, Mackay, Otten, Atkins. Your point is what exactly?Really getting sick of you just naming the best 6 players on every team as if that is what makes a team good or not.
Its just plain stupid. It doesnt prove anything at all.
They had a lot of average players in that team: Suban, Pearce, Sutcliffe, Mzungu, Spurr, Duffield, Clarke
You can really tell a quality team by their bottom 6 players. Look at Hawthorns in that grand final. now THAT is a quality team.
That's it for this year. 2 or 3 forced trades (Keath, JJ, Greenwood) and we have our minimum list changeover done.Where are the other retirements? That's right they're not coming. Was expecting Jacob's, Mackay, Douglas by now minimum.
