Just my opinion, I doubt Coniglio would have made a decision and I doubt anything has changed or will for a while. If he has agreed to explore the option of joining us I think he will be waiting for the appropriate time to come and tour our club and meet our people. I think regardless of which way he is leaning I think he will do this before making a final decision on his future.

Our finish to the season and GWS' finish to the season could be another factor here as well. We're going alright and face a big test while GWS seem to be going off the rails.

Honestly I think Coniglio has likely met with us and agreed to come and have a look around and meet and greet at our club and probably Hawthorn as well and he will likely honor that commitment and get that done during an appropriate time which is sometime after GWS and Carlton's season have ended.

Then he will make a decision. I think all this he's coming, he's not coming stuff we're hearing is all premature.

I just doubt he would agree to explore coming to us and backflip and not even come and have a look around the club which I doubt he would do while both Carlton and GWS are still playing football.

GWS' season will probably end in another 3 or 4 weeks so this would be the expected time frame to hear something notable on this issue.

I'm sure there is some game playing here but to me it looks like there is more to it if both clubs are firm with their offers.

I would take all rumors that are definitive with a grain of salt until at least GWS' season has ended.

For what it's worth I think Coniglio could feature for them again if they go deep in finals. He's not going to say anything if he's leaving and certainly not going to go on the required tour of the club etc.

I totally agree with you by the way.

My point is that sport should not have any resemblance to politics. A players union?? Please!

The best and strongest games/leagues in the world got rid of the unions and the players have gone onto bigger and stronger wages. The clubs know the players bring the crowds, so they will never miss out... Paying the salary cap to close to 100% will make sure of that...

It sounds like you're saying that being pro-union is "political" but being anti-union isn't? Hope that's not what you're saying because it would be a blatant contradiction.

And fyi, the AFL Players Association is a thing. Most if not all AFL players are members, and the association has used the support of players to negotiate things like the collective bargaining agreement.

Teams are required to pay close to 100% of cap because of player unions

Don’t forget all the massive leg ups that Gil gave Essendon during the disgraceful performance enhancing drug scandal.

That Essendon we’re rewarded with pick one in the National Draft because they finished last (deservedly) as a direct consequence of their players serving a 12 month ban - was a ******* disgrace.

You are right. That bullshit did slip my mind too. Should have had a round one pick that season at end of round one, after all other 17 clubs that draft but were rewarded pick one for having over a dozen senior players suspended that year. ****ing joke how that was allowed to go on too.

Without sounding repetitive (and the risk of being lambasted), Cogs is genuinely undecided. But as of RIGHT NOW, he is either coming to us or staying at the Giants with the latter the more likely of the 2.

Papley deal is almost being put in the too hard basket. (Swans wanting too much for a contracted leader of their club which is understandable.)

As I have been saying all year, our first pick in this years draft in more than likely to be moved on.

Furthermore, I don't blame Barrass for his reaction. For the very very minority of you out there, here is a simple solution, you don't like what you read, there is an ignore option available for your usage.

What happened with Barrass?

Typical rubbsih behaviour from a few nuff nuffs - someone decided to have a shot at rumours that dont eventuate pointing fingers at a number of blokes who share what they know when they know it.

Thanks mate always appreciate your input. Why the more likely to stay at GWS? If the AFL are trying to influence his decision I would think we are getting in his ear a bit too? Have we given him a date to let us know by?

Never leave us, you're the reason why I joined this great community.

This a hundred fold. If you don’t like the nature of rumours just stay away from the thread, don’t ruin it for those of us who do.

KC, just accept and love the insight from MS3/ITK and move on to discussion. They generally don't or can't engage further, telling us what they can. Pushing for more is a symptom of posters getting entitled and antsy. Leave him be.

Nobody knows when he'll make up his mind, but when it is on the table, we might well be lucky enough to get a small scoop in here. But not if we keep badgering and questioning MS3 and the likes.

Don't bite/badger the hand that feeds you.

Thanks for the update ... With Papley possibly off the table ... who do you believe we will be trading our first rounder for ? ...

Thanks for update and yeah sounding like Papley will cost too much and Swans doing right thing for them, which they should. Glad we had a crack though as he was type we would love right now.

As for Conigs, I believe him undecided is the state of play but what really pisses me off about my understanding of "AFL help to them to avoid normal FA rules" is it seems if he decides he wants to come to us I suspect we will have to do a trade now to get him which is just unfair from AFL for our situation when we were playing by FA rules to only pay big contract, not draft picks too. Really pisses me off how this is seeming to play out.

Nah, based on his voice and the underlying message in his radio message. It’s not about what may or may not have transpired since; I’m not even sure what rumour your referring to as there are so many. Rather, it’s about the perception of what may or may not have transpired since as a result of his public declaration.
Think they would need some actual evidence first. And I think CFC have more important things to do than worry about one player that was always just a maybe. Such as a game tomorrow. Rising star celebration. Possible big Brownlow night. Then delistings. Recruiting and preseason.
