No way would I like to see us do that for Wines. He's really not that good, nor that good a user.
Two first rounders for Wines because that then throws the rest of our targets into confusion?
Casboult won't want to go to GC and even if we did get something for him by trade more work would then be required to manufacture a deal to satisfy GC.

I think we have to back Russell and Teague in getting the likes of Setterfield, Dow and Kennedy ready for 2020.
Walsh will only get stronger and we need SPS and Fisher involved also.

Wines isn't anywhere enough of a player to drop 2 firsts on and getting back a pick ~30 doesn't make up for it nor may help us in finishing off our needs.

No thanks.

Cripps, Setters, Fish and Curnow are together touring the islands, were on Santorini the other day, not sure if thye've moved onto Paros, i'll take your word.

Kennedy and Schuey are also touring Greece together, were in Santorini andnow looks like Mykonos from thier latest phot.

I don't mind him but in context not so much and definitely not for two relatively low first rounders.
This is to say that even if those first rounders don't amount to a lot as for the players we may bring in via draft, they could well do as a bargaining chips for trades and they're not chips I'd care to lose next year for someone like Wines. Coniglio, Whitfield, Kelly...Ok...but not Wines.

If we did hand that sort of currency for Wines and got back a pick 30 odd....what next?
He alone may takes us out of contention for others that we may require more in terms of plugging holes. We'd then have to be looking at offloading other players, just to make room for other targets. I don't like it at all.

Wines alone doesn't make us immediately so much better and he's far from being the sort of player you'd sell the farm for.
What did you think of his year this year and is that the standard we could look forward to? If so....what a waste that would be.

Whitfield would be great, but as far as I know Hawks have been pi**ing in his ear for years now, also a mad Hawthorn supporter growing up and was in the stands for a couple of their Grand Final wins.

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try, but I won't be getting my hopes up about him this year or next.
Is he best friends with O'Meara too?

I don't believe so no.

The best mates thing with Cogs never really came into my reckoning for the likelihood of getting him, but I have to say if I had a choice of playing footy for either Carlton or Hawthorn, given my passion for our club, I'd be taking Carlton every day of the week, even if it meant not getting the highest offer.

Yeah great listen, Agresta seems like a man who knows what he is doing.

I liked how adamant he was that DeKonning is a ruck, plus his confidence in Stocker.
Can confirm. Had a great chat with Agresta recently at a private Club function. He's a lovely fella, very savvy, pushing hard for the Club to invest more into data analytics

FWIW we have tabled an offer for whitfield already, very unlikely to happen. Think it's more about making him aware of our interest for next year.
How the hell could we find him and the drug testers couldn’t?

A player’s fortune can fluctuate for varied and complicated reasons so I wouldn’t adjudicate too harshly over a single season’s performance, re Wines think he’d be an excellent asset and would make us a better team instantly. Allow more opportunities to forwards and some respite for defenders.
The old adage get your hands on the ball first is golden and a fact.
With Cripps and Wines in the middle , not sure how many times opposition would get to see the ball.

His year this year was a write off as you well know.
He shouldn’t be judged on it.
