I thought he was offered a shit load more by Adelaide and another team. He didn't want to go but the difference was huge. Then asked for an extra 50k to close the gap between the 2 offers, got told no and so left. Hard to hold that against him.SOS will make Eddie an offer.
He can either accept that and be happy at Carlton OR take the big $ and be miserable in Adelaide.
Eddie supposedly left last time for an extra $50k per year - will be interesting to see what happens this time.
IMHO Eddie needs us more than we need him.
To be fair, I didn’t offer a definition... just a rejection of the idea the only players good enough for us to target are the absolute AFL elite top ~10 in the league.
Anyone we get will have strengths and weaknesses, but some seem too keen to see what mooted trade targets CAN’T do rather than what they definitely CAN.
Wines and Papley would both be great gets for us. Ecstatic if we got either.
Eddy at early 33, twilight of career and having extracted circa 6-8M in contract and endoresment deals across a decent career doesn't 'need' Carlton. It seems he feels he has more to give and would like to do so reconnecting with Teague / Carlton, get out of the Adelaide sh*t storm. We are rebuilding lack small forward capability but good developing list and plenty of moving parts this trade period. We don't 'need' Betts per se either, but could be handy for a season or two + off field stuff. Given where both parties are at, it would be a pretty easy deal and benefit both sides. SOS would be aware of this and Betts, management also. He would not cost much. This is why it will prob get done. Neither really need each other but both would get a good short term outcome if it did materialise. He would be a good get for the club, and if he kicks 30 odd goals for a couple of years which by all indicators would suggest he probably would before moving into an off field role then great.SOS will make Eddie an offer.

I don't think anyone will be upset if we manage to snag Ollie Wines. There is just discussion about how well he fits our list in terms of how much we need to cough up price wise. Differing views are a good thing imo.
I wouldn't go for Wines, even if he was a free agent. Not what we need and at this stage of our list build, we need to be more selective.
What will be interesting is the speculation around Tomlinson. Dropped for the first elimination final. Is there more to that than form?
Probably not, but if the club views him as a fringe player, he may be the one they're most willing to let go to free up cap space.
I like the fact that we've been linked to Tom Cutler. Think he would suit us nicely. Better fit than Wines due to his run and carry ability.
Tomlinson omitted might be as simple as the ins: Deledio, Greene, Haynes, Hopper. Pretty handy inclusions. He's been close to leaving before though so I wouldn't be surprised if he explored options. Haven't seen enough of Cutler to form an opinion, but yeah I'd prefer the run and carry to an inside mid.
All good mateDon't remember insulting, just a poor attempt at a pun on the name. If you feel insulted, I humbly apologise.

I think so too. GWS had a lot of injuries and most have now returned to full fitness. Only Ward and Coniglio remain injured from their starting 22.
Cutler showed plenty in 2018. Very surprised he struggled to get a game this season. I guess that demonstrates the depth that Brisbane have progressively built up over time.

Whatever SOS Decides. Crows will just blink and it will be done. What are we thinking B Crouch costs trade wise considering our recent relationship with the Crows?

Tomlinson is a very good player to have on the list, but is he one that notably improves the side in positions we need it?FWIW, Sam Landsberger is reporting that Tomlinson will be on the move this year due to the cap squeeze.
