Delisted Jack Martin [Selected by Carlton in the PSD]

I get the romance of Eddie Betts back to the Blues but I also agree with the stance SOS currently has. Betts is 33 in November and seems to have dropped away this season.

If I was the Blues I'd look at two of Papely, Butler and J Martin. Younger players who in a year or two will still be at their peak age wise to have a serious crack in finals. In two years time Eddie will be 35 and retired. Why waste the time, effort and cap space?

Now Gold Coast makes total sense for Betts simply as a playing mentor and a marketing opportunity.

West Coast recruited Sam Mitchell with an eye for development and an eventual coaching role. Certainly helped you guys. Think Eddie would play a similar role.

And he’d be our best small forward pending Papley. We can’t go another year with no one crumming under Charlie, Harry, Gov, Cas etc. He’d do a lot for our marketing too IMO.

SOS was seen sitting down chatting with JMc from GWS so they might be interested in moving up and grabbing the 8.
With picks 11 and ~13-15, you'd have to think we'd have another pick coming back given their next is 49 in this year's order. I'd strongly suggest that chat was about a young GWS player.

Fair enough.

TBH I never thought of Betts as a coach. Mitchell however was a sure bet to going into coaching.

Betts I could see as an indigenous support and liaison officer at a AFL club.

He will be a good acquisition for Carlton. Exactly the type of player they need. If they can get Betts as well then that’s one solid forward-line!
HF: Martin, Curnow, McGovern
F: Betts, McKay, Gibbons

I'd be happier with this set-up:

Cuningham.....CCurnow......Martin
McGovern........McKay........Papley

No offence to Betts and if we take him, then fine but he's not going to be a real difference for this club going forward.

Is not a done deal yet but if you can turn pick 3/4 into stocker, Martin and Papley I think is a big win for your team. I doubt GC will take your future pick Knowingly your team on the up trend next year.

If it happens i would want pick 4 for Daniher not pick 8
Based on what he has been able to do the last 2 years you should take pick #8 and run if he wants to leave , If he leaves next year as a free agent its about the same pick you will get and why have him on the list for another year. Pick #4 based on his career so far is way way over

If we haven't yet learned that a deal isn't done, until it's done.....then we haven't learned. :)

Just saying that I'd be buoyed going into 2020 with that forward set-up and without Polson...or ECurnow...or Gibbons...or Deluca. Need some class.

You currently have pick 1 and 15, which could be as high as 13 after this weekend, and a probable before first round PP. Thats without taking into account King, Lukosius, Ah Chee etc. should they move.

Might be worth bringing in a few future picks to even the spread in what could likely be a stronger draft anyway. I’m sure it’ll be a fair deal.

I don't think GC can go and ask for Priority pick and then trade first year player like Lukosius and Ben King out. another double handling of trade or draft pick.

Will have to be pick 8+ something else if that's the case no way the club will accept 8 on its own. he's contracted for another season Essendon holds all the bargaining power here.

Based on where you see your club finishing where do you tink bombers will finish and what compo will you get , will be the same
