I can see footballers living in different states.

David Mackay would be the poster child for it. Trains well , prepares well , thinks about what he can do to improve

Its not like working from home where the fridge and tv are your friends. Didnt one of Ebert or Cornes fly over each week? Different era of course but if Dean Laidley can be a line coach on skype from melbourne then why cant a player?

I dunno - 2 of my kids moved to Melbourne in their early 20s, one of them will probably end up living overseas most of the time. I miss them, but I'm not expecting them to move back to Adelaide "because family", in fact I'd be disappointed if they did, now they've flown the coop and are making their own lives.

I get that, I suppose, but how many nightclubs do you need to make your life complete? I never felt the need to get out of Adelaide "because nightlife" but then I guess I was a rather staid 20-something :$
Lennies , Bojangles, Black Rose Piano Bar , Emu Hotel , Highway Inn.

Stop I'm getting flashbacks

But we will likely still have to trade for him - I doubt Collingwood are going to not match any offer we make.

However, we won't have pick 3 next year so at least we won't give that up, but it will cost a couple of firsts
We could offer Grundy a **** tonne more than Collingwood could match.

Pick 2-4 next year looks likely, unless we do another pick swap.
We won't be that shit.

New coach, improvement from good players who haven't been emotionally engaged. We'll finish around 10th to 12th.

Dont be stupid people pick their own career over relationships all the time, a heap of university graduates here have to look interstate for jobs, sometimes your partner follows alot of times they don't, as much as you can compromise you still have to do what makes you feel happy and good.

There's nothing wrong with putting yourself first and following your own dreams. If that means letting someone go becuase they want extremely different things to you then that's what you gotta do.
We already know your views on relationships
I hope you mature somewhat

Disagree, we may have a good profit margin compared to other clubs but we are not even in the conversation for a big 'football' club. We can hardly lure a C grade player or coach and we are in constant crisis on the back of the worst football department/board ever assembled. We have the potential to be a good club as we have been in the 90's and early 00's but we are far from that at the moment.

We're in SA. That's incredibly unattractive. Our football department has historically been excellent, and will be again after changes.

Big clubs are big because they have large supporter and sponsor bases. We don't have a "good profit margin", that's rubbish. We have big numbers.

Doesn't mean we're good, but that's not what was asked.

I have often joked we should base the club in Melbourne, ie staff and player live there. Fly over once a fortnight to play home games at Adelaide Oval.

Can guarantee we would have a stronger list if we did that.

I was chatting to a kid in our Academy Saturday night. Asked him if he wants to play for the Crows down the track. His answer was no, purely because he wants to live as an AFL footballer in Melbourne. He is friends with a few recent draftees who are over there and loves the sound of it.

I think it ticks all the boxes from the footy dept side of things. I just wonder whether it would have a detrimental impact on our primary revenue sources, memberships and crowds.

Also odd from Eddie given he played nearly every game this year, in spite of average form for large parts. Thought he would want to have his legacy finish at the club he’s had most success at, but must want to live back in Melbourne I guess.

Remember all those weeks ago when Rowey said Betts wanted out, Betts denied it and everyone hung s**t on Rowey?

Pick 71 or pick 80 Carltank will offer up, we should hold firm on their pick 39 or 44. If they want Papley then they have to part with their [our] Pick 8 and if they want Jack Martin they'll have to use a future pick.

It’s weird they delisted Dale Thomas because of age then given he had a far better year than Eddie. Has to be partly for good PR too, can’t just be for onfield.
I suppose the best news from this is:
1. we get $500K off our books to help pay guys like Crouch etc
2. We had Eddie for his very best years then will allow him to go back to Carlton when he is at the very end of his career
3. Without Eddie, the new coach will need to back in Stengle / McAdam etc for the small forward role(s)

Or we draft Malcolm Rosas Jr with the pick we get for Eddie....He's an excitement machine with serious athleticism and wheels

Gotta make sure we find a way to add in Ned Mchenry to that #3
