Recommitted Tom Papley [wanted to return to Victoria, nominated Carlton - didn't get there]

This is all we are asking, don't be silly now.

Why ask a question you already know the answer to? Weiters hasnt requested a trade and the club see him as an untouchable. You want a ready-to-go backman then I would suggest lowering your eyes and look at Jones + pick 8 for Papley + 2019 second rounder. Youre still making out like bandits but its more palatable than giving up Weitering

You sure Weitering will be enough though? Swans should demand Walsh as well while theyre at it.

Pick 8 + Weitering + Walsh = Papley

Fair and reasonable as ever Swans fans :thumbsu:
You might be giving up a tiny bit too much in that trade, but we'll kindly accept to stop the speculation.

If you could kindly pass it on to the Carlton list management team I'd appreciate it.

My God some people.......pick 8 IS ENOUGH for Papley if not walk away.
We'd be pretty dumb to accept just pick 8 when I just accepted an in-principle agreement for Walsh, Weitering and pick 8. Have sent it off to the club and hopefully it should be sorted out early in the trade period.

We're just having a bit of a laugh mate. We're not deciding trades here. There isn't anyone on Sydney's list that I would trade Jacob for anyway.
Wait, what?

Now I have to clarify my email to Sydney's list management team. Now I'm gonna look like a dickhead FFS

He is important to your structures & besides who else do you have that can defend enough scoring attempts that this season he helped Carlton climb to 16th?o_O

No need to be snarky.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. Obviously he's contracted so Sydney doesn't need to trade him. But it seems clear he's want to come home. I think pick 9 is a pretty good offer. Might even be overs. But you pay overs for contracted talent.

LOL at Pick 9 for Papley... And West Coast don't think Tim Kelly is worth a pick high first round pick in a s**t draft..
Papley's worth slightly more than one high pick because he's contracted until 2023. Kelly is probably worth two. He'd probably be worth more than 2, but he's uncontracted.

He will leave us if we get who we are after. Now question is who. We all think Daniher but is there some thing else at play here? He loves the club so will go where to the club that best looks after us giving us what we need.

Papley is contracted and has more than one club interested in him.

Kelly is the better footballer but he is out of contract and has more or less told Freo to get stuffed, which means it is West Coast or bust, so they don’t have to bust a nut to get him.

All this is speculation of course (mostly driven from the likes Sam McClure and Bigfooty) but generally speaking if there are more than one interested parties in a particular player then that players trade currency goes up - supply and demand.

Throw in Cripps and Fisher and we’ll consider it :)

Peak Bigfooty trade right there

This will not get done unless Daniher decides on us im told

Papley and management know this full well.

Sydney are not prepared to loose best 22 and just happy with replacement picks.
You must be really really important, I’m told.

So much bluster and negativity in this thread, but if a trade does eventuate here with Carlton and Sydney over Papley, I feel it will be done reasonably fairly between two professional recruiting/list teams who have shown decent respect to each other in the recent past ie. Sydney becoming involved in the McGovern deal as a circuit breaker, allowing a wanted but potentially surplus Nic Newman go for better opportunity at not much cost.

For mine, Tom Mitchell was traded for pick 14. Contract or no contract, Papley won't be worth pick 8 on his own and something along the lines of shifting later picks may occur either this year or next, in order for Sydney to wrangle and manipulate points for academy/FS selections. Posters might huff and puff and suggest other clubs are willing to pay a good 1st on its own so get stuffed, but if Papley wants to get to Carlton (lots of noise) I think something like this will occur;

Sydney: Pick 8 and pick 44
Carlton: Papley and pick 23

If it's not this years picks, perhaps Sydney's 2020 2nd for our 2020 3rd and some later token pick swapping.
