2020, will we have the best forward line in the comp?

Of course, we do...

Can you imagine in 30 years telling your kids (or others) that we had the triple threat of Lynch, Jack and Dusty? It seems ridiculous even now.

Then factor in Shai at their toes with Stack, Higgo, Rioli, George etc.

The idea that Jack is a second or even third forward is a lot to take in.

Name our best for 2020.
This is mine....

Stack, Lynch, Martin
Bolton Riewoldt Caddy
George and Rioli (interchangeable)
Nope....

Caddy now playing wing.
Stack will slot into Bakers spot.
George and Rioli will take their spots.

With that being said, Martin, Bolton, George and Rioli add to the midfield rotations or playing high HF/wing, with Lambert, Shedda, Graham, Prestia and Cotch either swinging forward or swapping with Caddy, Stack depending on defensive or attacking structures. Remembering that Houli,Short, Vlastuin, Broad and Rance play higher up the ground when attacking and holding that structure to limit oppos breaking out from their defense.

I think that what makes our forward line so effective is the ability for our players to play higher up the ground, freeing up space for 1, 2 or 3 key forwards that are all highly effective one on one players. So once the ball is cleared from our backline/stoppage/turnover we can surge forward with more numbers providing link up and run then deliver to those guys who are excellent contested marks or ground ball winners. If the situation becomes a contested one with the ball in dispute then those players that contributed to the 'swarm' then provide the numbers to lock the ball in the forward line whilst the defenders set up their zones to aid in keeping the ball there.

I think that the commentary about forward lines is simplistic these days as the whole team are involved.

Was it Allan Jeans who said that there's 3 phases of the game? "Either we've got the ball, they've got the ball or the ball is in dispute".

I think that we have the best attacking team in the AFL, add to that 2 of the best contested marks and the best one on one players in the league playing in the forward line, combined with a full team buy in, then we are one hell of a scary proposition.

Not to forget that we also have the best defensive back 6 combined, if you like, with the reversal of our attacking structure then it's pretty obvious why we have been the absolute standout team of the last 3 years and to be honest, I can't see it ending soon.

If Georgie sorts out his goal kicking we will. If Tom or Jack don't get ya Georgie will. Can take a contested mark and as a defender you have no idea wtf he's going to do. Is he going to run the ball from the centre square to the goal square? Is he going to lead right into the back of me? Is he going to get the ball and just run around in circles for 5 minutes before then pretending the ball is an egg he just laid? who the shit knows

I’ve always been a big advocate for not knowing what you’re doing. If you don’t know, what hope does your defender have?

Yeah. Next best is West Coast...

Lynch, Riewoldt, Rioli, Lambert, Castagna and Bolton plus our resting mids is better than Darling, Kennedy, Ryan, Cripps, Petruccelli and Allen plus their resting mids.

We definitely have the best forward line and the best backline in the comp .

Still not sure if the 2019 forward line is as good as 1980 .
Roach
Cloke
Jess
KB
Monteath
Wiley
Weightman

Still can't believe KB kicked 21 goals in that final series .

How good was that 1980 side, well from the mids/wings forward, our backline wasn't all that.

Riewoldt must be loving that just as he is going past his peak he doesn't have to shoulder no.1 forward burden anymore. Lynchy clunking big grabs allows Jack to spend his twilight years just contributing where he can. He would be thinking f*** thankyou Richmond
