I'm 75/25 that Martin will get to us if he goes into the PSD.

Hell, Gold Coast may even delist him now that they made their silly point.

Depending on what we can offer him for next year, if we have the room, 90/10 I reckon. (900k+) no way GC or Melb match that without an agreement to sign an extension

Only way would be if Martin cracks the shits with us and agrees to a deal with GC or Melb but I doubt it and reckon we will get him

GC may be happy to lose Martin for nothing to Melbourne I’d say. ‘Teach clubs a lesson’.

Therefore if that’s true the only way to stop that is have to price him out of GC market. 1-2 years on a fortune.

Check in with Melbourne if they intend to match, them give them a sweet deal if they do (Eg: 9 and 43 for 8 and we wont
Take the player you want at 8).

Feels like there are a million ways for us to still get Martin.

Do a pick deal in GC favour so they don’t offer him a contract and DFa him.

Papley was picked up in the rookie draft at Sydney when Agresta was their recruiting manager, who's to say Agresta can't find us a diamond in the rough this year? The three we picked up post draft/trade period last year are already 10x the ones we picked up previous to that. Gibbons is a gun, DeLuca has shown something atleast, Cottrell is an exciting prospect also.

Longshot to improve the list through these avenues unless Martin falls to us in the PSD which I highly doubt and this is a rarity .
We traded down our first pick this year to specifically trade it for a quality player ATM that has been a failure .
We've banked a war chest over 4 years and now have nobody to spend it on another failure .
We dumped Thomas I imagine because we assumed we were bringing in quality this equals failure .
If that cap space weve banked does expire this year then this trade period becomes a monumental failure imo .

Do you know enough to elaborate on the concept of restraint of trade? Did the GC show a restraint of trade by not trading Martin when a fair deal was offered or would they face a restraint of trade if they picked up Martin in the PSD if he openly stated he didn't want to go there?
