I tend to subscribe in the 'don't shoot the Messenger' adage with ITK poster's.
I do not either but be aware not all that posted in the thick of trade period were really in the know which is part of what my post was about. The guys you mentioned most of us know can be trusted to pass on a bit of what they know, or at least what they think they know. There is a way and context of sharing that also needs some thought.

Anyway, PM is also a good source when the forum itself is not a healthy environment to follow up which sadly has been a lot this off season.
I got some queries answered in PM yesterday rather than board to avoid some of the crap going on from other posters. It is sad the forum cannot always be ideal environment for those of us that really care about our club.

Been a fair bit reported here in regard to mixed messages on recruiting. Dan Butler thought he would be at Carlton next year and his management were more than a little bemused at Carlton's approach to the matter.
Our eggs were in the Papley basket. No loss not getting Butler. Handy, but keeping next years picks and using pick 9 this year in the draft is a great outcome. Martin to come makes this trade / draft period an overwhelming success

Tend to disagree.

Sure, it hasn’t been smooth sailing and he ain’t a great media performer, but the club is in a much better state than when he started, both on and off the field - that really is the key test.

Fair enough...my comment was that he is no great loss....whether he’s done a good job or not is a matter of opinion.

If we were to go for Martin in the Draft wouldn't that mean we would have to use 9. Surely he would be picked up before our second pick in the 40's.

I really don't want to weigh into the debate about MLG …. my only concern, and this was stated in this forum when he was appointed, was he was from the CFC gentry set. Other than that I have no issues.

Yep. Same team involved again, coincidence?. I think not!

By the looks there will be a couple of big off field changes before 2020 begins. How is this going to effect the players?
I ask with genuine interest/concern. Up until Bolts was appointed coach I never took a great deal of interest in the off field with the exception of head coach and to a lesser extent the president.

I'd suggest there'd be minimal to no impact on the players. They'll get on with their jobs, nothing really changes for them.

All well and good but it is poor to effectively lead-on potential recruits, even moreso following the inability to secure the A1 target in Papley.
McDonald & Pask manage a number of players throughout the comp & it is doubtful either will be tripping over themselves to encourage their players to join our club due the mixed messages out of Liddle, SOS & Agresta.

MLG took over from the boys run club, seen the clubs biggest overhaul, kept the rest of the board relatively in check compared to yesteryear, reduced debt, got in Liddle to increase membership, got sos to change the list.

Besides this crap about Liddle I think he’s done a good job.

Is it MLGs fault what’s happened, don’t think it is. Others are paid to make sure shit like what’s happen doesn’t, repercussions, yep you bet.

By the sound of he he’s going to whack or has whacked some.

Should he fall on his sword, hell no.

Should sos leave, wish he wasn’t but with more pieces coming together about his sons, then good on him.

All the hullabaloo about MLG not being more in the spotlight is bullshit.

Yeah right we want a Cochrane or Kennett type.

**** all the haters.

Ellis & Pask by Liddle.
Butler & McDonald by Agresta.

I am not sure either of these is correct.

There is nothing wrong with meeting with players and managers but ultimately deciding against bringing them into the club.

I highly doubt not taking either will have any impact on the thinking of players and managers when viewing Carlton as a prospective home post 2020.

Please.

Papley wasn’t about coin and he wasn’t our A1 recruit.

Cogs was and that also wasn’t about coin.

Ellis’s managers nose is out of joint, he had Ellis to us, got greedy then lost out.

Remember Ellis wanted to join us, his manager said let’s go for more. If Ellis said that his manager should have advised against it.

Very silly the way he went public, perhaps players may be wary of the way he goes about it.

Bultler, who the **** is butler, does he sell deck chairs?

If our club values and offers one of their players more cash then the manager will be pushing them our way.

It’s all about the % to them.
