I thought the AFL put plans in place that if a game were to be suspended due to a player having covid the can reschedule games

The only solution is to postpone it. Forfeiting doesn't make any sense. The rules were clarified prior to recommencing the season and forfeiting wasn't an option. It isn't fair on the other teams if Melbourne get 4 points for free, especially if they replace another team in the top 8 because of those 4 points.
