Touched on where we lost the game and or where we could have won it

On WC, they are a strong, well balanced unit. Their list management/drafting/trading has always been elite

Always invest and nurture talls, McGovern, Barrass, NicNat, Allen and more to come through, Brander, Edwards and Williams will be a jet

Easier to fill wholes in the middle and fringes by trading, Jetta ( courtesy of another tall in Sinclair), Yeo, Redden, Kelly

Impressive
Plus they traded Lycett To PA after winning a GF

We are the fourth oldest side on the park this year.. how much longer they got left 😂😂

They’re not talking about how old we are...compare how long Setterfield/Kennedy/Gibbons/Martin/Walsh have played with each other to know each other’s styles etc compared with Sheed/Yeo/Shuey/Natinui...they know where they are going to run, how they will run, the contests they are likely to win, the contests they are likely to lose....very important

He? Bit presumptuous.

When Simmo retires we are the youngest by 3 years on average.

Then if Betts goes, it is 5 years.

I thought Murphy was much better this week. Far more physical and his intent to attack was good. He was a bit overzealous on a couple of occasions going forward, but his pressure was much improved.

Being realistic: he’s not going to be dropped. Teague brings young players in sparingly, and we aren’t going to add players without them really pressing their case and showing they belong at the level. Look at how hard Kennedy had to work over the space of a few seasons to get a consistent spot.

Cottrell got his opportunity this week and wasn’t overawed, but he will likely make way for another young player to have a crack. I’d like to see LOB get his spot next week.

We seem older if you look at average age as we have a few extremes like Simmo/Murph/Betts. But really a lot of our older players have replacements waiting. E.g. Casboult/Curnow, Simmo/Newman, Murphy/Dow,Cunningham,Kemp,Stocker etc, Betts/(insert hopefully a trade target), Jones/Marchbank (not the best like for like). Also we have heaps of players under 25, just missing some core 26-28 year olds.

Then we agree to disagree. Positionally, Pitto is lost unless he is a Ruck. Doesn't have the skill or agility to play KP backline and has no significant forward craft to hold down a post for a sustained period of time. He has decent skill around the ground to link with smalls, whilst battering away as a ruckman or playing behind the ball.

This structure would go back to the too tall Blues of a handfull of years ago. TDK has much more versatility, I think it's time to learn on the job.

Opportunities become more limited as H, MM, Charlie et al become available.
... which is fine.

This is quite clearly a transition period; going from Kreuzer into TDK, either with Harry backing him up and/or us finding someone else to play Levi's gig. TDK doesn't have the tank to run out a full game, and he's still very coltish in terms of his build and co-ordination at times; Pitto is more physically advanced, more used to being as big as he is, and has a decent understanding of the game. While we have Casboult available Pittonett is fine, as they each compensate for each other's weaknesses rather well; Cas is exceptional around the ground and can play a myriad of roles, and Pitto is a good body to have in the stoppages as he's very good off his ankles for someone that big and - frankly - I think you're underselling how good he is hitting to advantage.

He's been a huge reason we've been better this year, and while not NN, Gawn or Grundy has been perfectly fine as well. He's a transition player, so we do not need him to be standout, and as a transition player he's performing far better than we could've expected.

The intent to attack is not the problem with Murphy, it is the lack of intent when defending. Pulls out of smother attempts and often misses tackles when in good positions.

Go back to the Saints game, first 4 centre clearances he was pushed off the ball and the Saints had the game won. His body strength is letting him down which makes his weaknesses even more costly. Might be time to phase him out gracefully.

I wish we had a designated sniper to halt and cause changes in momentum.
A Brayden Maynard type, excluding the sniper reference, who can physically impose himself on the contest. Wonder is Brackets could be that type? Probably a stretch. Not sure who else we have who could fill this role.

Talk all you want, but perhaps use some balance. There were howlers both ways

Umpires didn't effect us missing targets, nor shifting away from tempo footy after half time, removing TDK from the ruck, ed relaxing his tag on kelly

So it's Teague's fault then? Make a call, have an opinion. Last I checked, it's not against the law.

The umpiring was horrendous and it contributed a great deal to the momentum swing in West Coast's favour. There you go. Arrest me.

There’s no point looking back on previous weeks with Murph. I’m not too sure why his defensive effort still needs to be managed week-to-week, but while he’s a key part of the midfield he will play each week. Once our midfield is more fully formed he will hopefully be phased out or re-purposed.

Hmm. Interesting. Perhaps we have one in waiting; the big recent draftee recovering from a knee.

No issue at all. I think Pitto has plateaued and teams have worked him out. Good back up ruck for mine with a great ticker who will never let you down.

Now would be a good time to expose TDK a bit, while we have a bull in Cas to spell him from the long stints. Weird season, shorter games, team growing with him and see this pay off in the years to come.

He cannot continue to play midfield. Throw Fish/Walsh/Martin in there and leave Murphy up forward and between the arcs, can do less defensive damage there while still being able to attack.
