*Looks at ladder. *

Yeah, let's follow Adelaide's lead.

Who cares about the ladder? We are two spots above them and they haven't won a game. At least they are getting a look at their kids and finding out who might be worth retaining moving forward with smaller list sizes.

Not sure how you thought I was suggesting that?
Your complaining we aren't playing enough kids because you are discounting kids you think are established.
Worpel is established but he hasn't made it to 50 games yet and he's 21
He's an example of Clarko playing youth.
Scrimshaw is establishing himself, also youth being played regularly.
Hardwick, played regularly.
Day has come in and not missed a game since.

Almost half our team is under 26.

Can all the naysayers just settle down bloody hell. Who cares who we bring in. We know we're we are at as a footy club right now and so does Clarko. Just because he doesn't go the obvious route of playing all the kids according to some people doesn't mean there isn't an eye to the future. Would have thought playing a fair portion of your fringe players to see if they can add anything to the team moving forward is a decent strategy. Howe is a better player than a lot of posters think he is. Why do you think we looked great end of last year?. Part of the reason was Howe and I'm convinced of that. The guy can take the best players and do a good job and in the process allows our mids to get cleaner clearances because he gets his big frame in good positions to allow that to happen. It will allow us to get Chad in there more often so he can take advantage of better cohesion and a clearer path. It worked beautifully last year when we got it going the way we wanted it to.

At least they’re a bat s**t crazy club that torture the s**t of their players to get them all fired up

agree ...let’s follow their lead

Adelaide are doing it and refusing to play Bryce Gibbs which is the correct thing to do. Scully playing over Morrison and Moore in particular is absolutely ridiculous considering where we are at as a club and I can't be convinced otherwise.
I don't see Poppy in the team.
We aren't playing our oldest possible combination of players

That’s a team picked to minimise damage. Other than picking minch or brooksby did we have any more experienced players to pick? Can’t think of any.

There’s always 1-3 selections a week where Clarko shows his conservative bias that is costing us over the long run.

Hartley and Patton selections make sense but did we really need to see howe and Scully given where our season is at? Is cousins really the future in the midfield? Do we need to see more of Ollie or worth seeing someone else?

Yeah you can make a case for each one individually but as a group the selections don’t stack up with only 6 games left and our season over.

Could have kept Morrison in and brought in Cegs and Poppy instead of Hanrahan and Patton if he wanted to go really conservative.

No they’re not, they’re a basket case. No one has any idea might have it when they are playing the way they have in 80% of their games this year. Carlton and Melbourne learned this the hard way with 15+ years in the absolute wilderness and talented kids, one after the other lost to development hell. If Adelaide don’t play their cards right, they might be on a similar trajectory

As the great Leigh Matthews said last week about the Hawks; you need the bigger elephants in the team to take the heat off the younger ones. and you have to do it gradually. Otherwise you completely stunt their development.

You want to follow Adelaides footsteps? I get the sentiment but surely you can come up with a better example than Adelaide.

Yes there is a balance, but what kids are in there? Day, Glass, CJ and Hanrahan? Edit, forgot Cousins.

Worpel and Scrimshaw are established first team players.
Glass, Howe, Hanrahan, CJ all uncontracted at years end. We need to see who gets a contract.

And thats exactly what we're doing.

A team id like to see by end of the year and a team id be excited to watch even if it was a 10 goal loss

Hardwick kosi cj
Impey frost scrimshaw

Day mitchell omeara

Wingard Lewis Morris
Moore patton bruest

Mcevoy worpel, shiels

Howe, finn , walker, greaves

The bolded ones I can safely say have very little future at the elite level.
If that was the case they wouldn't be getting auditions for contracts

Spot on.
We bemoan Scully, but he was clearly the best kid in the land in his draft year. Another supreme talent torched by Melbourne in the early years. He still looks mentally scarred by those days, regardless of his ankle injury. I could roll out names of another 20 talented kids who went to Melbourne who ended up in a similar place.

I don't agree. But for all of you who can you are clearly far more optimistic.
How can you even argue?

Why doesn't Howe deserve a run ??
