I guess they're still a possibility to add Brad, just depends if they want to spend more money in the guts. Port have done at well luring players but it isn't always easy especially being from SA, given Brad is on the table might as well take it if there are no other viable candidates in the short term.
He's a good proven mid. You'd think they'd consider it. Maybe he doesn't fit into their longer term plans, or maybe he wants either too much money or a contract thats too long.

I still think the contract length he's looking for would be the tipping point for a lot of clubs.

They have enough runs on the board to make me think this is a real possibility. Losing Wines and getting a first rounder + Brouch for cash seems right up their alley. That's a net win in my book.

Reckon they would shift that first off to GWS for Hately and change, then take Lachlan Jones as a NGA (no risk to them if he is taken early)

In: Crouch, Hately and Jones, out: Wines is a pretty good haul.

As a club, we probably won’t move on until all those from the 2017GF have been retired/released. That together with changes at the Admin level means we can start again.

We have pick 1 locked in, let’s lock in pick 2 (Brad Crouch compensation) plus whatever GWS pick one (which is currently pick 8) and that is a handy start.

It is amazing how once you finish bottom, you have a touch of realism that wouldn’t exist if we finished 10-14.

PSc: In Brad’s interview he talked about winning a flag. Not convinced the Power is in the window - I know they sit top of the ladder but have failed convincingly against Brisbane, Saints and Cats.

Forgive the ignorance but has the AFL confirmed the details of the list size reduction? I mean like can contracted players be cut or how will the salary cap change if at all?
Don't know why the AFL are reducing list sizes.

They should reduce average salaries & keep list sizes the same.

Negotiate sliding scale salary cuts for those on existing contracts.

Port certainly seems likely. Stays with his brother and GF. Adl get pick 2. Win win.
If Port lose Wines they get a quality replacement.

Brouch is our best midfielder but gaining pick #2 in a rebuild would be too hard to refuse.

Also, given how badly Birdbrain managed his injuries, I don't blame him for seeking out a contending club... just wish it wasn't Port, but with a local girlfriend it's understandable.

I'm starting to think that the change to the current U16/18 competitions to U17/19 and also the changes to VFL and NEAFL along with smaller list sizes will play into their plans of a bigger mid-season draft.

Eh.....

Something has definitely changed, maybe the club has got wind of an offer that may trigger 2.

If Ebert moves on with his concussion issues, they continue to have Rocky on the fringe.... yeah maybe he'll fit, but it's hardly a pressing need.

We need a tall defender, not another slow mid. Everyone can see that.
Hartigan had Hawkins measure a week after ministering your backline 3 talls.

This will be fascinating....

Dangerfield (or Riewoldt) advocating for his salary or the little guy....

Indeed.

These very well paid players should take a bigger % cut to ensure the current numbers of players still can play AFL. E.g.

1st 100K 5% cut
2nd 100K 10% cut
Next 200K 15% cut
Remainder 20% cut

Will pay for plenty of rookies!

Port love a bit of PR. Poaching the crows BnF would be right up their alley

I'm all for it.

McDonald and Hollands would be a serious step in the right direction.

I think the club values Brad extremely highly. They've worked tirelessly to get his body right over the years, and keep him happy.

When its all said and done Brad is rated all the way up to band 1 compo. And he seems to be OK with that!
His manager shopped him cos he knew what was gonna happen re the rebuild.
Insider trading.
Brad has an injury now and the cue should be put in the rack.
The timing for him in the world is unfortunate, and his best endeavour and lucrative would probably be to stay.
Letting him go for end of first or let’s just say something mid twenties after academy is just stupid.

GWS took Riccardi from the VFL last year, may be losing Cameron. Clearly have some questions about what they're going to do with key forward roles.

Honestly, the main reason I hope we win a game or two down the stretch is so that f***wit trolls like you see it as your cue to piss off.
GWS won't lose Cameron ......but there is talk of Perryman being squeezed out, the same Perryman we put a bid on in his draft year

Playing excellent footy this year mid / HB

If Bradley leaves, he doesn’t get booed. Should be in the members terms and conditions for 2021.
Members terms, include board voting rights while you’re at it. Ha. I don’t see him leaving as we won’t get the value back.

I thought his manager was shopping him to test his market value, and in addition at the time I thought there was an offer from Adelaide on the table for him. I got the impression it was a standard 3 year contract and he was hoping to push it out to 5?

Old Gerard is starting to tremble about a Geelong geurnsey for him.

I personally think in a typical draft you should let him go, even if that pick is not 2. Sometimes you just gotta move on (Polec and Wingard).

But maybe with this compromised draft that clouds it even more.
Unless we get pick #2, I would he keeping Brouch as he is our best midfielder.

Well it may have been a test but trigger wasn’t pulled and the circumstances have irreconcilably changed and we won’t get bang for our buck.

I'm far less attached to the actual players than I used to be. If Brad to Port gets us pick 2 I'd take it.

Obviously winning games of football is important while rebuilding, but winning a few extra games because we retained Brad Crouch while we are out of the 8 isn't.

So we'd basically be paying him 3-3.5 million for 2 years that matter, when he'll be 30-31 years old.

So that means even if we get everything right and are back in some finals contention in 2-3 years time, we should be looking to open a 5 year window, so we hold Brad on big $$$ now just for year 1 or 2 of the window?

I'm only fighting to keep players who will not only be there in 2 or 3 years time but will also be a chance to play for 5 years out from that point, or hold trade value during that time.

We'll be better off front loading promising kids and bringing in cheaper players like Keays from other clubs or even holding on to a couple of our own cheaper players to get us through the next couple of years.

If the return doesn't give us band 1 FA compo we keep him, which he'll be very happy with I'm sure.
That’s what it’s going to go down to, so his manager at the shop last yr needs to get some sweets now.
