How much are you paying them?My god do you not understand? They would get a significant salary increase in the national reserves, because it's a much higher standard than the VFL and only the best VFL players would get in

Just saw your post you want to pay them $60k. So, each reserves team would need 15 or so. So 270 players x $60k. That is over $16 million. Are you serious? My god do you not understand? People do already. More money playing in local comps or the sticksThat’s horribly low if correct.
Compare that to $506000 Cap for each AFLW team for a season half as long.
I could see many blokes walking away to play local footy for slightly less money (Possibly more) but less commitment and less impact on their jobs.

Agree. Reducing the cap will only mean more players lost. It’ll be hard to have a premier state competition with a bunch of the better players running around in other comps.People do already. More money playing in local comps or the sticks
Most of the highest paid players in Victoria don’t play in the VFL. Most talented players don’t make it as an AFL player would rather be the main man for a local club where they can get $1500 a game and maybe a car from a sponsor. A lot of them would rather train twice a week and be a 100 goal full forward rather than play as a top up and be in and out of position of the team depending on which AFL listed player is playing reserves that week. Being a top up player might appeal to fringe 19 - 22 year olds who are prepared to sacrifice their own game for the good of the AFL club and its listed players. You can sell the competition and get good ratings, and how much money are the best SANFL/WAFL/VFL players making?

Your idea is not appealing to either football fans, or players. It would not rate well enough to be profitable and thus would not appeal to the AFL, or any other league.
The WAFLS salary cap is 298,000 this year
Subiaco Lions salary cap is like 600,000 though
Maybe, maybe not. Either way the networks don’t pay anything for VFL, etc.How much do the highest paid vfl players get per year if they play every game?
How do you know people wouldn't watch this league? Be a lot more interesting that the VFL which is shown on FTA

Do you know how to do a google search? Maybe try it.Once again I'll ask, how much do the highest VFL/SANFL ect players get paid?
Do you know how to do a google search? Maybe try it.
Doing the maths from a google search, VFL listed players at aligned clubs would average around $500 a game so $5 - $8k.
At stand alone clubs that would also be the average however clubs might have one or two players on $20k+
That sounds about right. But your suggestion to pay hundreds of players large amounts is not feasible.People have claimed top SANFL/WAFL players have earned as much as 50k per year.
Broadbeach never been in NEAFL - facts rightAre there any actual details on this released?
Is it just Sydney, GWS, Gold Coast and Brisbane joining the VFL or do the other NEAFL Clubs, like Broadbeach, Sydney Uni etc also join? Wouldn't they just get destroyed by the VFL sides? NEAFL standard is more akin to Amateur footy is it not? How is the travel going to work? VFL sides going to fly up to Gold Coast? Or will they try and align Reserves matches with League sides and only send teams up there if they're playing an AFL affiliate that is also going up?

Brown paper bag sales have doubled. Still plenty of money in country footy and a decent SANFL footballer can double his money in the countryMoney has dried right up.
The Crows reserves have one home game during the entire year. A match against Port Adelaide played at a country oval. For those in SA, who gets bigger crowds - Norwood or Crows reserves?
Cap is not able to be enforced. There’s still plenty of cash floating around. The points system has had an effect though as you can’t hide from it.Maybe five years ago. The days of this are over for now. Local salary caps have been slashed from next year onwards. The VFL salary cap has been roughly double that of top suburban leagues for a couple of years now and that’ll be the case next year too.
Money has dried right up.
Can anyone peek behind the paywall on this one about the NAB League Boys/Girls comps?
Beg to differ mate. That's like saying no money exchanges hands in the ammosMaybe five years ago. The days of this are over for now. Local salary caps have been slashed from next year onwards. This has disaster written all over it.A whole league of elite under-age football coaches has been sidelined by contentious changes to the NAB League competitions.
As of next year one coach will look after both the girls and boys teams in each region, with one season leading into another.
The AFL will hire the coaches as full-timers.
But coaches from the NAB League Girls were unable to apply for the coaching jobs when the AFL advertised them internally.
Their contracts expired at the end of May, ruling them out as “in-house’’ applicants.
Only AFL employees will be considered for the full-time positions.
NAB League Boys coaches and region talent managers who had been part-time must reapply for their jobs.
That's incredibly poor if true. Some coaches are better suited to working with boys and vice versa Another point is at the moment the boys and girls are at very different stages in their development at that ageThis has disaster written all over it.
