Rumour Former Port player involved in motor vehicle incident

Has this only happened now, or is it referring to last week potentially? Only because just before the Jack Watts retirement was announced, a former Port employee, who still has plenty of friends there, mentioned to me he was retiring and had been involved in a hit and run. Then the retirement news came, but didn't hear anything about the hit and run she mentioned.

Whether or not Jack was, this is definitely the reincarnation of the Impey incident, the statement is dated 2016.

The Port Adelaide Football Club has released a statement regarding reports one of their players was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Norwood overnight.
Media reports have surfaced a player was in a multiple-car incident, who then fled the scene.
The club has refused to comment on the specifics, but has said they are in talks with South Australian police over the matter.
"Police are investigating a hit-run crash at Norwood last night, after a white Commodore sedan collided with four parked cars and the driver fled the scene," SA Police News posted on Sunday morning.
"Just after 7pm, the white Commodore was seen to turn from Bonney Street to travel north on George Street, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collide with a parked ute pushing that vehicle into Toyota sedan in front. The Commodore continued down George Street then hitting an Audi sedan which was pushed into a BMW.
"There were no persons in any of the parked vehicles at the time of the crashes."

Port Adelaide's full statement:
"The Port Adelaide Football Club is aware of media reports alleging one of its players was involved in a motor vehicle accident last night.

"The club is in contact with South Australian Police and will not provide any further comment until it has all the information at hand."

Considering that statement posted earlier stated that SAPOL posted "sunday morning" about the incident "last night"

Here is the Sapol twitter feed - see if you can find it there. Apparently someone stole a soft serve ice cream a few days ago.

Ok finally been verified. Reports that former Port player Jack Watts side swiped some parked cars and left the area.

Channel 7 tip rats doing their finest work again.

How convenient the timing is for this incident to make the news cycle. Happened on September 20th 🙄

Jack seems like such a terrific bloke but he sniffs out low level trouble just enough to draw attention like nobody else.

Definitely vibes of this story coming out now to play down the Crows boys one, but lets not get hung up on that and just judge this all on its merits.

Jack Watts is a silly silly man, and if this was all while he was still in the frame to be selected for the team (when did he "retire"?) then that's pretty bloody poor on his behalf.

Not something that needs to distract us though.

Edit: Wait hang on, the comparisons to Impey and stuff have gotten me confused - is it alleged he was not sober when this happened or not? If it's just he's a terrible driver, then eh, if it's him drink / drug driver then yeah, a bigger deal but one ultimately on him now.

Recently retired star Jack Watts ‘charged’ over car crash incident
Days before officially hanging up the boots, Port Adelaide’s Jack Watts was allegedly involved in an incident that’s landed him in hot water. Recently retired AFL star and number one draft pick Jack Watts has found himself in trouble with the law.

The Port Adelaide player officially hung up the boots on his playing career on September 24, but is in hot water over an alleged incident which unfolded on September 20.

Watts, 29, is set to face serious charges after failing to report a crash and driving without due care, according to Channel 7 reporter Mark Mooney.
“Police outlined the allegations that Watts was driving a Toyota Kluger at 2pm on Coral Sea Road and failed to stop after colliding with a parked Mazda Sedan,” Mooney said. “Watts will have to front court. But a short time ago his manager told 7News the collision was minor and he will be defending the charges.”
He has been summoned to appear in court at a later date.
