I drove home from Melbourne (about 1800km) once with one of those in the car. Saw it as we left, forgot about it and then as we were unpacking the car it crawled along the dashboard and up the window. I'm glad we didn't see it in the meantime. We were flooring it thru central western NSW most of the way. Wouldn't want to see that in front of me on a bumpy country road.

Jones was apparently a scientist working for the Florida state government who was fired after refusing to manipulate the state's COVID numbers in the lead up to the election. A subsequent investigation from Florida journalists found that the governor, Ron DeSantis, had engaged in widespread manipulation of data and disseminated misinformation about the pandemic around the election. 20 years ago today, I had surgery on my right Achilles tendon (it was corrective surgery to fix the tightness in it). had the left on done in May 2001 to fix the same thing.

Have a fresh (from today) update on Ben's condition....

He's awake!

A few days ago he started moving his arms and legs a little bit, and his eyes were flickering about. Despite not being fully awake and conscious, he was still able to do some basic stuff on command like wiggle his toes. But as of now, he's not only up and awake, but he's also talking and able to walk with assistance. He has some Post-Traumatic Amnesia (ie. he can't remember what happened to him), but that's really all I know about the brain-function side of things at this point.

Ben's mum and sister have been truly incredible. Right by his side all day, every day. However, at this point in Ben's recovery they're kind of keen to keep things a little more on the private side from here on out. So it may be a goodly while before I am able to provide any further update on his condition. But for now, he's alive and awake and the outlook is positive at this (admittedly early) stage. Kid's a fighter.

Again, big ups to those who have shown their support.

Great to hear T.O.D. See Peter Helliar and l think the state govt. are launching a campaign with Pat Cronin's parents to hopefully stop this happening.

Yeah, Helliar's the Ambassador for the Pat Cronin Foundation. He must live up my way, too. Met him one day at the local basketball - his kid played against the team I coach. One of those situations where you meet someone who you assume is going to be a complete tool and they actually turn out to be a nice person. Good on him for lending his time to a very worthy cause.
