All of Lairds season averages-
70
59
94
97
100
108
97
105

He is a gun playing as a defender or a midfielder and been a lock top 6 DEF for longer than anyone else we are currently considering.
if hes playing midfield then hes as locked in as it gets. defender only and not quite so but still a pretty safe selection to average 95+ but probably not great value for 564k. for me it depends entirely on where he is gonna play. there are so many good options this year so if laird is back in the backline and averaging 97 again hes probably not a good selection.

i'm pretty sure hes gonna play midfield though, he was great for them there last season, i watched adelaide vs collingwood last season and he was so influential.

Is anyone scared that Laird won't spend as much time in the middle and won't be able to match the late season scoring from last season

With Brouch gone he probably spends more time in the middle if anything. Absolute lock in my side.

THIS

Plus Milera and B.Smith are back. Plus Doedee. Hes a lock. And a bit sexy.

Jeremy Howe?

Langdon, Scharenberg now both gone so less threats to his role. Or is he still dead and likely to miss early season?

At this stage I have pencilled in Whitfield, Short, Howe and Lukosius. Very keen on Short, with Lukosius also having a breakout 2020 season. Would like LLoyd and Ryan but not enough $s.

Williams has a poor history with durability. If Stocker can get games he would be of interest and I might run 3 premos and 3 on field rookies..

Also only missed 2 games in 4 years.
Blokes as rock solid as you can get.

Yeah, he ended last year at $361k unsure why there is a 40k price rise on him.

Starting prices are based on previous season averages, not final price.

Cheers. Is the discrepancy normally that much ?

Yeah, the magic number that accounts for all players prices gets lower as the season goes on.
It's around $5375 per point of average to start this season.

Williams been promised a midfield role, at 458k and his scoring potential, I think he is a certain starter. Lloyd obviously picks himself. My third premo keeper is either Whitfield or Daniel. Does Whitfield go back and play purely as a half back with the loss of Williams? I'd say yes, however he can let you down from time to time and being a GWS player, missing one week usually means two-four at a minimum. Daniel is consistent, clubs don't see to tag him, the doggies try to give it to him at all times, plus takes the kick ins. In saying that, perhaps Whitfield might take GWS' kick ins? Probably leaning toward Whitfield, only 20k more expensive. Obviously aim to have them both in at some point.

Rookies are subject to selection, which is the case every season. But I am liking Nik Cox, think he will play early. Rest are wait and sees. I think the backline will have the most expensive rookies on field, which will hurt. Ambrose will play round one if fit, Essendon love him, at 217k he is priced at rookie value, probably wont average over 50 but if he gets a large score early one it will be great news. Perhaps an early cull.

If you want to get pedantic, I have calculated this years MN to be 5372.685

I would go whitfield. He should get an insane amount of the ball and has the endurance to play a healthy 4 quarters at 20mins each.
Daniel is great but an upgrade target for me if I decide to get him. Gets 100 most weeks but usually doesn't go higher than that and as a starting player I'd want a higher ceiling.

Steven May is one to keep safe.

I traded him in with 5 rounds to go last year, and he rewarded me with a 110 average.
Remove his first 3 Melbourne games while he got settled into the team (69, 63, 67), and he averaged 100.5 for rest of the year.
Scored 9 tons, 2 x 90's, with only 3 flops.

Cost is $507,900, and is priced at about 94.

Only issue is he's never played a full season, until last year.

Is on my watchlist.

Definitely a wait and see player for me.
Would be higher on my list if he was a ball acclimator like others in the same position.
I don't think interceptors will be scaled as high in 2021.
From memory his DE is pretty good though.

Wasn’t that with a toe injury if I remember right, and his team mates were saying it was because he had leather poisoning because he was getting too much of the footy lol.

May absolutely carried us this year, best year of his career by far and was robbed of AA selection. May takes a lot of our kick outs along with Salem and probably now Rivers. Will be a very safe pick and most likely a POD. My main concern though would be that if Lever pulls his finger out and does something then May will have less intercepts which is where most of his scoring lies. Watchlist
