Well after watching stokes get four weeks and kelly get three for their bumps which were no worse than whelan's, I'd say he;d have to get at least three weeks for the sake of consistency.

Need to see it again, but from what I saw it wasn't a player with his head over the ball, it was a shepherd similar to Giansiracusa on Koschitzke last year. That didn't get any weeks. Suspect this won't either.

A nice hard shepherd within 5 metres of the ball ...they clashed heads which caused the damage ..if anyone is reported for that, then we should be watching Netball

Ball is a brick...he's supposed to be pretty smart but how many of these sorta headshots can he take ?..just strap a bandage on his head permanantly.

Enormous effort to play out the game and contribute well...he woulda been seeing stars.

1-2 weeks based on others..but shouldnt go.

It was a great bump and a credit to Ball to keep on playing. I haven't seen the replay so it may have been a bit high but otherwise it was a supurb hit.

Any suspension might not matter too much as he is injured.

Whelan came off worse so. What might do him is high contact which caused injury. Dont know though. It wasn't reportable in my eyes but if the Gia/Kosi wone was then this should be on that logic

It also looked like his head made nice contact to the ground as well.

Can't see how that was reportable. It was a clash of heads that caused the damage.

If anything Ball ran into Whelan. Whelan didn't really have much choice, unless he's expected to give Ball a free run at his team-mate.

Not reportable, accidental head clash.

Unfortunately for Melbourne is that ch7 reported that Whelan had neck trouble and a possible broken jaw. Couple that with McLean and Yze being the softest player to ever put a football boot on and it has been a very ordinary opening round for Melbourne.

OTOH 4 points for the Saints we are on top of the ladder at present no injuries, Riewoldt, Gardiner, Max and Raph back very soon and we will just get better from here on in.
