For the pedants among us... the club actually split in two in 1966. They were the biggest club on the Peninsula, and there was a lot of disagreement and acrimony (both within the club and external to it) about them leaving local footy to join the VFA. The VFA tried and failed a few times to get them with the MPFL refusing to clear them. Eventually the club simply split itself into two clubs... Frankston to join the VFA and Frankston Peninsula (later to become the Frankston Bombers) remaining in the MPFL.

The two clubs both claim and share the pre-1966 history.

So after 1966 Frankston Peninsula FC continued to play in the MPFL as the Dolphins reserves team (think Port Adelaide), in 1975 FPFC merged with Frankston Rovers (Dermie’s junior team) to form what we have today the Frankston Bombers wearing the jumper the Frankston team first wore in the 1880’s.

GWS in VFL jumpers finally! It is the away jumper with VFL logos and numbers on front

An interesting fact, despite a large number of teams competing in the VFL/VFA over many years, the GWS Giants are the first team in this league to wear orange jumpers.

There are some colors not seen at present in VFL jumpers but were in the past, such as light blue (last worn by Prahran in 1994), purple (last worn by Oakleigh in 1994), green (last worn by Tasmanian Devils in 2008 and previously worn by Northcote) and teal (regularly worn by Frankston as a clash jumper in the early 2000s, but since discontinued), but not orange until now.
