FINAL SUBMISSION

AFL counsel Jeff Gleeson says his proposed two-week ban was premised on Viney's guilty plea. He says the jury is at large but their penalty should not be less than two weeks. David Jones say the jury can attach what weight they wish to the initial guilty plea.

Viney's counsel Adrian Anderson returns to precedents involving Jed Lamb and Charlie Dixon He is also running through the precedents involving James Sicily and Ben Stratton again.

Anderson says the appropriate range of penalty is between a fine and one-week ban. He says Viney deserves some credit for giving evidence and pleading guilty initially

Is something out of whack?

JURY DIRECTIONS

David Jones is now summarising for the jury.

It is alleged by the AFL that Viney's pressing of the elbow was to the neck/throat region for a prolonged period with force.

Viney has not pleaded guilty to this.

The midfielder admits he committed the act of serious misconduct, but only that he made contact to the lower jaw region.

The jury must first decide whether the conduct is as alleged by the AFL.

Would not be at all surprised if this now ends up 3 with a not guilty plea.

ROUND TWO FOR THE JURY

The jury will now deliberate again on the final penalty.

David Jones says Viney is entitled to have his guilty plea taken into account, acknowledging his acceptance of responsibility. It is a matter for them what weight they apply to it.

We'll be back as soon as they have an outcome.

But he took the plea back you idiots

No Chauvin and Floyd? :)

2 weeks which is 1+ short of what he deserved
Pretty much what we going to happen once Gleeson left it at "at least 2 weeks" - the jury tends to ignore the at least part and just accept the weeks

If the submission was "at least 3 weeks", then Viney would be on the sidelines for 3 weeks

There would need to be a significant list turnover anyway.

Well.....

- they'll get a high draft pick or two presumably

- Mitchell reckons he has a firm, aggressive plan to make wholesale changes to their list, game plan, off-field personnel, and

- David Parkin declared Mitchell to be one of the best 2 - 3 coaches in the country.

Will be interesting viewing.
