OK, this was very tough!!
Tried to make it realistic as possible with what teams are actually trying to do (Coll and WB getting points this year, STK wanting picks this year, GC happy to move out of this years draft a bit), but also had to add some players that might not move, like Hunt.

Brisbane would definitely do this, as we have a highly rated father son kid next year.

We have 2 third round picks and 2 fourth round picks this year which we’re unlikely to use.

Personally, I’d happily trade first round picks with Bulldogs, and trade them al four later round picks for a future third and fourth round picks.

As long as Daicos is bid on first, that improves some or all of the Bulldogs picks as well, as the Collingwood picks are removed from the draft order.
So you'd trade for ANOTHER first this year, and the Bulldogs needs to delist how many players to use all those back end picks?

Also - your final four picks are only worth 700 pts total, so they're not helping THAT much in trying to get a 1800 pt bid together. They're delisting four players to get the point equivalent of a mid second round pick

Dyl stephens + 13 for Darcy Moore.

Pies get cap relief, a former top 5 pick and enough points to draft daicos
Hmmmm - I don't hate it.

I've been inspired by perplexed to make this abomination

My favourite part of this trade is that Josh Battle goes out, but never goes in. I can only assume that, in an AFL first, the Saints have made the rather bold decision to trade with the ether.
I can also only assume that, considering this 18 legger is meant to make everyone unhappy, this trade is then flagged by the AFL, and the Saints are then stripped of future draft picks and the rights to draft Nick Riewoldts sons are given to the Bulldogs.

The funnest part about our performance in last year's trade period is that now every club adamantly think we are stupid.

Stephens has shown nothing since being drafted, and is virtually worthless, especially since walking him through the PSD is a genuine threat (given we have pick 2).

So pretty much pick 13 for a 25 years old AA CHB?

The Giants should look to trade Toby Greene. He is magical at his best but he regularly disrupts the team with constantly getting suspended.

Will be suspended for this weeks semi.

Was suspended for the 2019 prelim.

Was fined $2500 in the 2018 elimination final for kneeing Heeney.

You just cannot continue to have someone who is just about 50/50 every final to get suspended and potentially throw off the whole teams season for his own poor actions.

If they could pull out 2 x first rounders for him, they should consider pulling the pin.

Teams at the top gunning for a premiership will pay that price now knowing they are strong enough to cover him if he gets suspended but the giants aren’t in that position.

Port have lots of small forwards.
Lions could be a good fit.
Melbourne he’d fit in great
Dogs would be great too after Jamarra and Darcy on the cheap.

Needs a team with senior players around him too pull him into line while the Giants walk away with 2 firsts.

Just depends what Collingwood cap is like and how desperate to they are to get daicos without burning too much in the future

I’m aware of all that.

Please read the whole post, as there are important points that demonstrate how the Bulldogs can accrue extra points.

First, the Bulldogs look to possibly be losing a couple of players during trade periodlooking for opportunities elsewhere.

I don’t know the state of the Bulldogs list, so don’t know how many players they may look to delist.

There are mechanisms to take “extra” picks to the draft, due to nature of the fluidity of list spots and how many rookie spots.

Teams can have a minimum of 35 senior list spots plus 6 rookies, to 38 senior list spots and 4 rookies.

It’s possible to delist some contracted players (typically players with one or two years left on a contract, who you wouldn’t care if another team “stole” off you, and are likely to be delisted when their contract expires in the future), with a commitment to redraft them in the rookie draft.

This opens up extra senior list spots, to use at for points.

If you have 4 available rookie list spots, you can commit to redraft 4 players. This could give a team 6 National Draft picks, but you pass on the last 2, and push those picks in to the rookie draft as well.

There are ways creative list managers can open up extra picks for the draft, without actually having to use them in the draft.

You can also factor in we’re likely to see a similar situation to last year’s draft, where we only have around 60 players drafted.

Teams like Richmond and Gold Coast aren’t going to use all their late picks, so when the final draft order is announced, teams will be discarding picks they won’t use, and late picks will move up, and accrue more value.

So if the Bulldogs hold pick 72 and 71 (combined value of 48 points), and when the final draft order is announced, those picks move up to pick 60 and 59, and now have a combined value of 304 points. Bulldogs just added 256 points without doing anything.

And, as long Daicos is bid on first, picks 60 and 59 will move up 3 spots each, and now be worth 376 points.

In accounting terms, the Bulldogs are raining points without doing anything.

Oh, and with my proposed trade scenario Brisbane will find itself in the exact same situation as next year.

Just depends what Collingwood cap is like and how desperate to they are to get daicos without burning too much in the future
So your trade suggest is based on the opposition club being "desperate", says alot about how realistic it is :)

If you read my previous post. Just with a Daicos bid coming first, Brisbane’s current picks where they are right now, all move up 3 selections and are worth 908 points.

On draft night, I’d be pretty confident of them being worth more, after some picks that won’t be used are removed from the draft order.

It’s really not that bad of a deal? What do You think the club would get for Moore ? Pick 1? For a bloke over halfway through his career and body breaks down regularly
I'm not sure what you want me to say, you even admitted yourself that this deal is contingent on the opposition club "being desperate" lol, isn't that enough said?

Darcy Moore is 25, not 28, not 32, he is 25. If we start discounting the trade value of someone who has been a key position All Australian at 25, and right when he entered the peak years of his career, should everyone 26+ be traded for peanuts?

It's absolutely a horrendous suggestion and there is no chance we'd consider it lol, even if Ned Guy was still here.

Fixed it for you Bangers. We weren't paying enough for TimTom Hutchesson

Now you're paying too much!, could I interest you in a future 4th rounder as well?
Sure just in case we have a player to bid for 2022 draft. Smart thinking.

In accounting terms, the Bulldogs are raining points without doing anything.

Oh, and with my proposed trade scenario Brisbane will find itself in the exact same situation as next year.

No way teams like Richmond, just go to the draft and surrender some 3rd round picks. If they aren't going to be used, they will be traded either to push higher up the order or into next year.

Same with Gold Coast, they will IMO be looking to trade picks into next year. Either 19 (if they get it) or 22 at the very least will likely be moved into next year, Collingwood need a 2nd in order to match a Daicos bid so will likely trade into this years draft to do so.

Agree. If the Pies are willing to let Darcy go, it will be next year as a FA. Lets be honest, they will likely be in the bottom 2 or 3 against next year and having 2 more top 5 picks next year (with Daicos this year) would be a fast way to rebuild. The trade value of Moore being traded this year is largely based on the value they can get next year.

Is there anything stopping the Dogs trading out 15 this year for say the Tigers 1st next year, then trading the Tigers 1st out again to another team after a bid on Darcy to get another 1st rnd pick this year. Bit of a convoluted question, sorry.
FWIW I doubt the Tigers would do it, just an example
Why would Richmond even consider trading out their 2022 1st rounder? Apart from the huge uncertainty of it's eventual worth, they have multiple late rounders that they most likely won't be using to use as leverage.

For example, possibly offering Picks 28 (677pts), 40 (429pts), 44 (362pts) = 1458pts for Bulldogs Pick 14 (1161pts) is a starting point to get the Dogs up to enough points for young Darcy. And if Richmond offload Caddy for, say, Pick 56 or somehow get a 3rd round compo for Chol then there's another ~200pts to add to the mix.

Trading out a future 1st rounder is a recipe for disaster. Avoid at nearly all costs.

Hawthorn get Coleman-Jones and pick 7
Richmond get Tom Mitchell
I personally will be happy to see CJ go but he will undoubtedly be better up forward than Mitch Lewis or whoever Hawthorn's full-forward is these days. I know people are saying a first-rounder will be enough to get Mitchell but I'd give up our second-rounder as well to get rid of CJ.
If you're gonna take that one onto the Richmond board, you better wear a mouthguard.
