That's fair enough though. He said on FC last night that he never asked for the job, Carlton approached him. If that's true and now he is being told he has to go up against other candidates of course he wouldn't bother.

The talk on radio is that Lyon and Sayers had been in conversation for some time and had even reached discussion about contract terms.

Sayers informed Lyon yesterday that there will now be a detailed selection process for all candidates, including him.

Lyon responded today that he would not be involved in the process and would not seek the job.

Can see why Ross bounced. First being told to wait on Clarkson but if he’s out you’ll get it now being told to go through a selection process that there’s no way they would have made Clarkson go through.

If Geelong lose tomorrow and then decide to go the rebuild route would Chris then become available. A competent board would surely have sounded him out as well

Teague was not achieving anything significant as senior coach, he was deplorably bad and his W-L and gameplan were going back at a rate of knots.

Few coaches are in the Neeld bucket, but Teague was his own headache.

Disagree I think he could coach.

He's not perfect but he was learning and would have improved. Massive mistake throwing him out after 2 years and never giving him a proper go.

Going to end up with another un-proven coach now back to square one.
